This invention relates to improvements in snap hooks.
The object of this invention is the provision of a snap hook which is especially adapted for establishing a connection between various articles such as chains, harness and the like, and is so constructed as to provide a snap hookthat will effectively hold, and thus obviate the pulling apart at its point of connection.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a snap hook of this character which is provided with a body and a pair of independently rotatable disks for frictionally engaging a body and thus a chain or other articles may be connected to the body of the hook.
A still further object of this invention is to rovide a snap hook of this character which will be simple, practical and comparatively inexpensive in construction and one that can be manufactured and sold at a low cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and set forth in the claims hereto appended.

Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates an elongated body which is substantially oval in cross section and is constructed of suitable metal, or any other material suitable for the purpose. The elongated body 1 is provided adjacent ofthe top one end with an opening centrally of its opposite side longitudinal edges, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.
The body 1 is provided intermediate its ends on its opposite side faces thereof with circular recesses 3 which recesses are concentrically related and the partition wall 4: dividing the recesses is provided with a central opening 5 through which is adapted to extend a pin 6.
The side walls 7 of the recesses 3 are adapted to engage the peripheral edge 8 of the concavo-convex disks 9 and 10. The disks 9 and 10 are concave-convex in cross section and have their concave faces innermost and are independently rotatable upon the opposite ends of the pin 6. The disks 9 and 10 are each rotatably mounted on pin 6 and have their peripheral edges engaging the side wall 7 and partition walls l of the recesses 3 as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The engaging of the peripheral edge 8 with the side wall 7 and partition wall a serve to hold the disks against accidental rotation, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.
The partition wall at is provided with. a transversely extending opening 11 and has its outer end opening out through the side edge of the body 1, and the transversely extending opening 11 has its inner end communicating with the longitudinally extending opening 12, which opening communicates with the transversely extending opening 13 which terminates into a longitudinally extending opening 14: in the body 1, the purpose of which will be hereinafter more fully described.
Each of the disks 9 and 10 are provided with elongated slots 15 which open out through the peripheral edge thereof and are adapted to aline with the openings 11, 12, 13 and 14 of the partition wall and body, thus permitting a link of a chain or other connecting member to be securely fastened within the body.
The opening 12 is adapted to receive a flexible connection therein which permits the hook to be suspended from a device, and prevented from being lost.
In operation:
The disks 9 and 10 have their elongated slots 15 alined with the slots 11 in the partition wall 4: of the body 1. A link or other connecting member is slipped into the alined slots of the disksand partition Wall toward the'rear Wall 16. ;The disks are thenforced around moving the links into the slots'l2 and then into the slot 13 and into the longitudinal slot in the body 1, and the disks'are moved past the slots let in the body 1, and the link is held connected With body land against movement by moving the disks 9 and 10 out of registration With the longitudinal openings 1%.
It \villbe understood that to remove the link it is only necessary'to aline the disks 9 and 10 with the slots 1%, 13, 12 and 11 and the link can be'readily removed. lVhile the disks are away from an alinement With the slots 11, 12, 13, and let, it can be readily Understood that it Will be impossible for the link to he accidentally removed from the body 1.
The frictional engagementof the peripheral edge of the disks 9 and i0 Withthe Wall 7 and partition Wall Will serve to hold the disks against accidental rotation.
lVhat is claimed is:
l. A snap hook comprising a body having alongitudinally extending slot therein and adjacent one end arranged centrally of the side edges thereof, said body provided on its opposite side faces With circular recesses which intersect the inner ends of said slot,

A snaphook comprising a body substantially oval in cross section, said body provided intermediate its end on its opposite side faces With circular recesses, forming annular shoulders, saidrecesses defin ing a partition Wall Which is provided centrally with an opening, a pin arranged through the opening and its ends projecting beyond the opposite side faces of the body, apair of disks concavo-convex in cross sections, each disk rotatably mounted on one end of the pin and having its peripheral edge abutting'the annular shoulder formed by the sidewall of the recesses, said body and Wall provided With slots and said disk provided With slots in alinement with the slots in the body Wall to permit a linkto be fastened Within the slot in the body, as and for the purpose specified.
