raaaaei.
Be it known that I, WILLIAM 0. -Mo
Drvrrr, a citizen of the United States, re?" siding at Bovina, in the county of Delaware and State of New York, have invented certain useful Improvements: in Ironing-f Boards, of which the following is aspecifi- Y cation, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
The invention relates .to ironing boards, and more particularly to the cla'ss-of adjustable ironing boards.
The primary object oftheinventionisf the provision of an ironing board of "this character wherein the leg thereof serves to automatically clamp the board in horizontal position to a table top, or other support, and said leg carries an adjustable floor grip, or cleat, thereby enabling the board tobe clamped to tables of different heights, or other supports.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an ironing board of this character wherein the construction thereof is novel in form, so that it can be readily clamped to a table top or other support, and held in proper position for use.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an ironing board of this character wherein the ironing board is reinforced to avoid splitting thereof, and it can be clamped to different thicknesses of table to s.
ii still further object of the invention is the provision of an ironing board of this character which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable, and efficient in operation, strong, durable, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing D Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevatlon of a table showing the ironing board constructed in accordance with the invention applied. r,
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary, vertical, longitudinal, sectional view through an ironlng board.
Fig.3 is a perspective view of the leg detached from the board.

i f Part8 ou-ghoutthe several vlews 1n thg'dm i v I Referring to the drawing 'in detail, A
designates a portion of the top of a table,
. which is of the ordinary well-known constr'uct'ion, ia'nd'is merely shown to illustrate inafter fully described. v v The ironing board comprises a main board section 5which tapers from one end toward site wider end has formed therein a longithe application of theironingboa-rd heretudinally disposed slot 7, the same being centrally located, and opens through the wider end of said section, while-secured in any suitable manner to the under face of the board section 5 longitudinally thereof, is a reinforcing section'8 which tapers both inwidth and thickness from the wider end of the board section 5 tothe narrow end thereof. v
The reinforcing section 8 is slotted at 9 correspondingly to the slot 7 inthe board section 5, and in the slots 7 and 9 are received a curvilinear leg or prop 10, which has its upper end 11 curved in areverse direction to the lower end thereof, and forms a jaw terminal 12, the leg being supported upon a pivot 18 which is passed transversely through the reinforcing section 8, for swingingly connecting the said leg thereto, so that when the ironing board is to beused the board section 5 at its wider end is extended beneath the table top A, and the jaw terminal 12 will engage with the upper face of the table top A for the clamping of the iron ing board thereto.
he lower curved end of the leg or prop 10 is formed at intervals with transversed holes 14: in any one of which is adapted to be received the removable pin 15, which detachably fastens upon the leg orprop 10 the floor 'cleat or shoe 16, which is formed with a tread base 17,'and spaced side cheeks 18 through which are passed the pin 15 centrally thereof, so that the leg or prop 10 will have a slight rocking movement in the shoe, and by adjustment of the latter upon the leg, the board section 5 can be brought to a proper level relative to the table top.
rest evenly upon the floor or foundation, and 7,
also by pressure upon the board section 5, the aw terminal 12 will firmly clamp the said section to the table or other support.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the ironing board will be clearly understood, and therefore, a more extended explanation has been omitted.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, i
' of said pivot formed substantially segmental and a shorter portion adjacent the opposite side of said pivot curving in an opposite direction to said longer portion and terminat ing in a forwardly projecting rounded am said segmental portion of said leg having a plurality of openings at its lower end, a floor cleat consistlng of a tread base and side cheeks, and a pivot pin secured centrally in said cheeksand passing through one open ing oi sa1d segmental portion of said leg.
