ATTORNEY.
J'GHN TE. DEARDOB-FE, GE KANSAS CIEY, MISSOURI.
SANITARY SHQW-CASE.
Application filed Getober 25,
To all whom it may concern:
lle it known that l, JoHN 3. DnAnnoRrr, a citizen of: the United States. residing at s City, in tie count-y of Jackson and re of Missouri, invented certain new on d useful Improvements in Sanitary Shoe which the i ollo'wing is a specificsrion.
lrly invention relates to sanitary showcases, and one object is to provide a. coinparotively simple and inexpensive case of this character for displaying bakery, candy manufactures. and other products in such manner that flies and other insects may be excluded from said products.
' rrthcr object is to provide a showcase cl: sections may be readily added to the capacity of the showcase as uty demands.
it-her objects of the invention. will hereinafter appear, and in order that said invention may be fully ul'lderstood, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings, in which: v
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my showcase embodying three sections. Fig. 2 is a broken detail perspective of certain parts of the showcase ready to be assembled. Fig. 8 is a v..,rtical cross section. on line Ill-HI oi? l 1. .l ig. i is :1 broken horizontal section on line I. --IV of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a broker. vertical cross section on line V of Fig.
In carrying out the invention, I employ a frame for each section of the showcase, conzyn-ising a pair of skeleton end segments 1, centrally disposed'longitudinal bar 2 connecting the upper sides of said end segment; and a pair of longitudinal angle bars 3 uniting the lower corners of said end segments.
The sections of the showcase are inclosed in end transparent or glass plates 4: and arcuate transparent or glass plates 5 and 6. lbs endiuost glass plates 1 are held in rsbts 7 the two endniost segments 1 by segntal retaining plates 8, reinovably secured c said cndmost segments 1. The interme "lute plates l are held in the rsbbets 7 of the intermediate segments 1 by the abutting segments of the companion sections. Each intermediate segment 1 can be supplied with a glass plate 1, but it is only necessary to have one glass plate 4 between the abutting sections, as shown by Fig. 4. Each glass plate 6 constitutes part of a door for nor- Specification of Letters Patent.

mally closing the open front portion of each section through which access may be had to tions of the end segments 1 3 and 4).
Each glass plate 6 is held in position in the rabbets 9 in the arcuate free terminals 11 of the oscillatory arms 9, by arcuate retaining plates 12 and horizontal anglebars 13 removably secured to the ends of said arouate terminals 11 (Figs. 3 and 4.). The uppermost snglebar 13 almost contacts the inner surface of the glass plate 5, (Fig. 3) to prevent ingress of flies and other insects. The are of the glass plates 6 and Ci is struck from the center of pivots 10, so that; when the door is swung open the glass plate ti will pass back beneath the glass plate 5.
In order to avoid shock to the glass plate 6 when the door is opened or closed oscillatory arms 9 are provided with bumpers 14 and 15, the former of which impinge against cushions 16 when. the door is opened, while the latter impinge against cushions 17 when the. door is closed, (Fig. 3).
' The door is actuated through the intermedi'acy of a hand lever 18 and or connecting bar 19, the latter of which is pivotally connected at its ends to one of the oscillatory arms 9 and the upper end of the hand lever 18. The hand lever 18 is fulcrumed upon a pivot 20 and extends through a slot 21 in the front side of the adjacent end segment 1.
The bottom of esch section of the show case is closed by a glass plate 22 which lies upon the angle bars 3 and between the lower horizontal portions of the end segments 1.
When the showcase is made up of tWo'or nioresections, the abutting end segments 1 are united by broad, arcuate connecting plates 23, the upper ends of which abut the longitudinal bar 2, while their lower ends abut the anglebars 3 (Figs. 1, 2 and 3).
When desired, the showcase may be rigidly secured to the top of a countensuch as indicated at A, by brackets 24.
To some instances, wire netting .25 is substituted for one or more Eof the of one or more of the sections.
While 1 have shown and described the preferred construction of my showcase, I of course, reserve the right to make such glass plates changes in construction, arrangement, and proportion of parts as properly fall within the spirit and scope of the claim.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A show case comprising a plurality of sections, each section having segmental shaped ends, the ends of the intermediete section abutting the ends of the adjacent sections, portions 0f saidends and connecting the same, an
angle bar extending across the lower portions f the ends and connecting the same, the
masses outer and inner ends "of the outer sections having glass panes, carried thereby, the panes of the inner ends of said sections serving as closures for the ends or the intermediate section, ercunte pletes'engeging the nrcuate surfaces of the ends for uniting the abutting ends of the sections and being on gaged by said bar and angle bar.
In testimony whereof 1 affix my signature,
in the presence of two Witnesses.
