TWINE-CUTTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 3, 1913. Serial N 0. 793,200.
this kind applied to a finger-ring in an improved manner, whereby it may be used with greater facility and convenience, and may be readily detached for sharpening or renewing.
The invention will be first hereinafter described in connection with the accompanying drawings, which constitute a part of this specification, and then more specifically set forth in the claims at the end of the description.
In the accompanying drawings, in which similar reference characters are used throughout the several views to designate corresponding parts :Figure l is a side view of-a twine-cutter made in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a detailed View of the knife detached.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, A designates a finger-ring having an integral arm B projecting therefrom and arranged in the vertical plane thereof. To the lateral face of said arm, a knife C which is made in a single piece, is detachably se cured by means of screws D, so that said knife may be quickly taken oif for sharpening or renewing as occasion requires. The knife may be provided with a V-shaped cutting edge e, the inner portion of which may be disposed tangentially to the periphery of the ring so that the portion of said periphery adjacent the tangential portion of the cutting edge will guide the twine into the space between the angularly arranged portions of said V-shaped cutting edge. This form of cutting edge is capable of readily cutting heavy twine or small rope by reason of its double cutting edges which are adapted to cut into the twine or rope on op posite sides of the same.
The finger-ring A may be provided with an open socket E slit as at e .for holding a pencil F or other suitable instrument or tool.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A device of the character described comprising a finger-ring having an integral arm projecting in the vertical plane thereof, and a knife detachably secured to the lateral face of said arm, said blade having a V- shaped cutting edge, one of the angularly arranged portions of which is tangential to BARNEY SEAMAN.
