The main objects of this invention are: First, to provide an improved combined envelop and check or coupon. Second, to provide an improved combined envelop and i check in which the envelop is so reinforced and stiffened asto be very strongand durable and readily opened and one which is adapted to be easily tucked into a. package ora pocket of a garment without'undue cruinpling. Third, to provide an improved combined envelop and check embodying these advantages which is simple and economical in structure.

Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.

I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification.

'The invention is clearly defined and pointed out inthe claims. A structure which is a preferred embodiinent of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which:

Tn the drawing, similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines.

Referring to the drawing, my improved combined envelop and check in the embodiment shown in Figs. I-IV inclusive comprises an envelop proper ,or body portion 1 having an open outer endfiap 2 and a sealed inner end flap 3. The tag 4 is lapped upon the sealed endof the envelop and secured thereto by the reinforcing and "attaching strip 5- which is formed of thin sheet metal, such as light tin, and provided with a se- .ries of teeth 6 along one edge, the teeth being passed through the tag and the body of the envelop and clenched, as at 7, on the rear side of the envelop. The teeth 6 are spaced slightly at their bases and in passing through the tag partially sever the same .so that the tag is really severed along the edge of the attaching and reinforcing strip which constitutes a straight edge along which the tag ma-y be readily torn, particularly in view of the fact that it is partially severed by the teeth .6. The teeth are passed through the body of the envelop close to but ina spaced relation to its inner end, as shown in Figs. II and TH, and by dotted lines in Fig. T.

The envelop is reinforced by the strip and tag so that it is held in the flat and also may be readily opened by pressing its edges toward each other, as the tag and reinforcing strip tend to prevent the collapsing of the Walls of the envelop.

Tn the modified form shown in Figs. V to Xll inclusive the envelop body consists of a front. portion 8, a back portion 9, and closing flap 10. This body is formed of a substantially rectangular blank, shown in Fig. T, with the corners of the flap portion posed betvveen and glued to the front and back portions of the body at opposite ends thereof. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new ,and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is: r

A combined envelop and check comprising an envelop body, a reinforcing and check member of comparatively stifi ma terial lapped upon the body, and a reinforcing and tag attaching strip of sheet metal disposed upon said check member, said attaching member having a series of pointed teeth on its outer edge arranged through the.
