DRESS-SHIELD.

Specification of Letters Patent.
Application iiIed July 1, 1914. Serial No. 848,466.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BEN Zion I-IAUsNnR, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dress- Shields; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,
and to the letters and figures of reference.
marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in dress shields designed for use at the pit of the arms of a person and the object in view is to provide a simple and eiicient device of this nature so arranged that the ends thereof may be prevented from wrinkling.
The invention consists further in various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a perspective view showing the application of the shield, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the shield and Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a pad having the two flaps and made preferably of a light water proof material. Narrow tapes or Suspenders C are fastened to the shield intermediate the pads and have glove button fasteners C for adjustment, said straps being adapted to pass about the shoulders of the wearer to afford a convenient means for holding the shield in place. Said Haps have holes B formed in the inner sides thereof, and which are positioned short distances away from both the concaved and conveXed parts of each flap and Copies of this patent may beobtained for ve cents each, by addressing the directly in the center of either curve. Wires D, having their ends bent to form loops or eyes D, are adapted to be inserted, one end being passed through each hole in a flap and which are held within the holes in each flap, causing the latter to be held in the proper shape and causing the iap to cling n'mly without inconvenience to the wearer.
By the provision of an arm pad made in accordance with my invention, it will be noted that the pad may be easily applied, the flap nearest the arm being inserted with ease in the arm hole of the waist or dress and, when adjusted, will retain its original position, while the other flap will remain. smoothly against the body of the wearer. rI`he ends of the extension wires being smooth are inserted into the holes of the iaps and will be held intact between the outer and inner parts and will be prevented thereby from coming in direct contact with any outside or foreign materials. Being loosely held within the holes, they may be readily removed for laundering or washing and easily replaced, when desired. It will also be noted that in the construction of the pads a seam E is made which runs along the concaved curve from either point of the shield to prevent the wires from slipping or shifting from their intended positions.
What I claim to be new is:
A dress shield made up of flaps and provided with a series of eyes formed in the outer flaps along the central longitudinal center thereof, wires passing through said eyes and terminating in loops at the ends thereof, and a supporting strap fastened transversely to said pad intermediate the inner ends of sai d wires, the portions of the pad above and below the strap being adapted to engage respectively the arm andthe body of a person.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aliix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
BEN ZION I-IAUSNER.
