GAS-RANGE,
To all whom it may concern a citizen of the United States of America,
residing at Mansfield, in the county of Rich land and State of Ohio, have invented cer tain new and useful Improvements in Gas- Ranges, of which the following is a specification. i
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in gasranges, and the primary object thereof is to provide an improved structiu-e in which the oven may be formed of desired size and secured to the body of the range so as to leave the cooking or heating surface of the range free and unobstructed so as to not interfere with free use of such surface.
The invention further has for its object to provide improved means for rigidly and economically securing the oven in position on the body of the range while still maintaining the cooking or heating surface free of obstructions. 1 1
Further and other objects will be later set forth and of themselves manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front perspective view of the invention; Fig. 2 is an end elevation; Fig. 3 is a top plan view, partly broken away; and Fig. 4 is a detail view, partly in section and in side elevation, showing the manner of supporting the front side of the oven.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, an oven 1 of desired length and width is mounted above the range body 2 in such manner that the back of the oven projects beyond the top plate 3 of the range body 2 as depicted. in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings, the object of which is to leave a larger amount of room at the front of the top plate 3. The oven is supported at its rear side by a pair of similar brackets 4 which brackets have vertical bodies 5 the upper ends of which are provided with lugs 6 upon which latter the bottom of the oven 1 rests and is secured by screws or bolts 7.

front side of the oven is supported by means of a horizontal gas supply pipe 13 which is connected by an end vertical pipe 14; to the top plate 2. Brackets 15 are secured by screws 16 to the under side of the oven 1 and are formed with curved fingers 17 which rest on the supply pipe 13 whereby the oven is secured against downward movement at its front side.
To further secure the oven in position and against vibration, a back wall 18 is secured to the body 2 and is provided with a canopy top 19, the back wall and canopy being secured to the inner end of the oven structure 1 so as to brace the latter andhold same in rigid position.
It is particularly to be noted that the brackets are rigidly braced, since they are secured at their lower ends and at points between their ends to the range body, and
since there is but one pipe 14 employed which is located at one of the ends of the top plate 2 it will be seen that the entire surface of the top is. completely free of any obstructions, which enables any part of the cooking or heating surface to be freely used.
It will be seen from the above that the oven is effectively secured at both sides and ends thereof and is held against vibration accordingly.
The top is preferably provided with :1 rectangular plate 20 which is used as a means for heating irons.
What is claimed is:
1. In a gas range, in combination with the range body, an oven disposed above the top plate of the body and having its back projecting beyond the back of the body, leaving a part of the top plate extending in front of the oven and the space above said part clear and unobstructed, a pair of brackets having horizontal lugs on their upper ends secured to the oven bottom and having seats between their ends secured to the top plate of the body, said brackets having offset lower ends provided with vertical feet secured to the back of the body, a vertical member connected at its lower end to the top plate and disposed at the outer end of the top plate and the outer end of the oven, a horizontal member connected to the upper end of the vertical member and disposed at the front side of the oven, and a plurality of brackets connected to the oven bottom and having hook-shape front ends which rest upon the horizontal member.
2. In a gas range, in combination With the range body, an oven disposed above the top plate of the body and having its back projecting beyond the back of the body, leaving a part of the top plate extending in front of the oven and the space above said part clear and unobstructed, a pair of brackets having upper portions connected to the projecting part of the oven, intermediate port-ions secured to the top plate and lower portions secured to the back of the body, a vertical member connected to the top plate and located at the outer end of the latter and at the outer end of the oven, a horizontal member connected to the vertical member and disposed at the oven front side, and a series of brackets connected to the front side of the oven and engaged on the said horizontal member.
3. In a gas range, in combination With the range body, an oven disposed above the top plate of the body and having its back projecting beyond the back of the body, leaving a part of the top plate extending in front of the oven and the space above said part clear and unobstructed, a pair of brackets having upper portions connected to the projecting part of the oven, intermediate portions secured to the top plate and lower portions secured to the back of the body, a vertical member connected to the top plate and located at the outer end of the latter and at the outer end of the oven, a horizonal member connected to the vertical member and disposed at the oven front side, a series of brackets connected to the front side of the oven and engaged with said horizontal member, a back Wall on the body and a canopy on the back Wall, the back Wall and canopy being each connected to the inner end of the oven.
4. In combination With the body of a gas range, a superposed oven having its back Wall extended beyond the back of the body, leaving a part of the top plate extending in front of the oven and the space above said part clear and unobstructed, means located in the rear side of the range body to secure the rear side of the oven to the body, means disposed in part at the outer end of the oven and across the front side thereof at the oven bottom to secure the front side of the oven, and a back Wall on the body secured to the inner end of the oven and to the oven bottoms at points between the front and rear sides of the oven.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of tWo Witnesses.
