This invention relates to the insulation of coils for electrical m airl iinesi tluise'mn'de of l'hit conductors in such coils. a clis'tincticm must be ohservetl between the insul iition' w'n'ieh separates successive turns and that; which protects the coil front ex ternal bodies; for example, the ironbody smu-o'i'mding "it. According to the present invention, the external insuhition of lint 'ivonml coils for electrical n'uichines is pressed on all sides without bulging or folding. The intermediate layers of insulation are made broader than the conductors and are bent around the sides of the coil inU-shape. The total width of the insulation in comparison to the width of the coil is important for the applicatii'm of the process, anti is so planned in accordance with the voltage that the isntnver of the intermediate insulation cover one or more turns. and the numher of the scele-lil-ze snnerposefl overlapping parts ofiorris a insulation be tween the coil and ground.
