WEEDER ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 10, 191 1.
Application filed March 18, 1914. Serial No. 825,651.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GEORGE C. PETER- SON and ALBERT H. NnLsoN, citizens of the United States, residing at Stickney, in the county of Aurora, State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVeeder Attachments; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descriptionof the 1nvention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to weeder attachments for cultivators.
The object of the invention resides in the provision of an attachment of the type named which can be readily associated with a cultivator beam and which is capable of adjustment in both a vertical and horizontal plane to meet the requirements of the particular work in hand.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail refer- "ence will be had to the accompanying draw.-
ings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a cultivator beam frame with the attachment associated therewith; Fig. 2, a view similar to Fig. 1 with the weeder attachment in a verticallyadjusted position; Fig. 3, a plan view of what is shown in Fig. 1, and Fig. 4, a view similar to Fig. 3 with the attachment in a horizontally adjusted position.
Referring to the drawings 10 indicates a cultivator beam frame which is adapted to be attached to the wheeled frame of a cultivator in the usual and well known manner. Cultivator blades 11 are. carried by the beam frame 10. A. bar 12 has its forward end secured to the beam frame 10 whilethe rear end thereof is provided with a cross arm 13. This cross arm 13 carries at each end a hinge element 14:. The attachment further comprises a fork A including a head 15 and a plurality of curved teeth 16 carried by the head. the head 15 is a plurality of hinge elements 17 of a number in excess of the number of hinge elements 14 and adapted to be interchangeably associated with the latter whereby the head 15 may be adjusted in ahorizontal plane. laterally directed arm 18 to the free end of which is connected one end of a link 19.
The other end of this link 19 is connected to a lever 20 pivoted on the bar 12 and car rying a spring pawl 21 which cooperates with a toothed segment 22 also mounted upon the bar 12. By oscillating the lever 20 it will be obvious that the free ends of the Secured to the, head 15 is a Mounted on i frame, of a bar having one end secured to c said frame, a cross arm on the other end of sald bar, a pair of hinge elements secured to said cross arm, a rake including a head having a plurality of hinged elements on the cross arm and adapted to be interchangeably,
engaged with the hinged elements on the cross arm whereby the rake may be adjusted l in a horizontal plane, and means for adjusting the rake in a vertical plane.
In testimony whereof, we affix our signatures 1n the presence of two witnesses.
