TED STATES PATENT OFFICE JACOB SGHLOSSER, 0F LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
DOOR-HANGER.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JACOB Scz-rrossnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented new and useful Improvements in Door-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to door hangers and more particularly to that type of hanger used in supporting car, barn and similar doors.
The principal object of the invention is to provide simple and eflicient means for holding the hanger against accidental removal from the track and also in securing said means in operative position by oneof the bolts used to attach the hanger to the door.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following descriptionis read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a front elevation. Fig. 2 is a sectional View through the door showing the hanger in side elevation. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, 1 represents the hanger body which is provided with lateral ears 2 apertured to receive the squared shanks of attaching bolts 3. The body as shown is constructed of an elongated piece of metal so as to produce a longitudinal channel 1 for a purpose to be hereinafter described. The upper end of the body has formed thereon the semi-circular head 5 which covers the grooved track wheel 6 arranged to roll over the track 7. This wheel is journaled upon a pin or shaft 8 extending across the recess in the head and secured in the front and back sides of the same.
Slidably mounted in the recess 4: is a bar 9 having formed in its upper end an L-shaped head 10 adapted to engage upon the inner side of the track 7 and prevent disengagement of the hanger therefrom. The bar is held within the recess 4: by means of the bolt 11 carried by the bar and extending through a longitudinal slot 12 formed in the boss, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. By tightenin up this nut the bar may be held in adjusted position but in order to secure a more posi- Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 8, 1914.
Patented Nov. 3, 1914. Serial No. 849,795.
tive engagement of the head 10 and to prevent the bar from being moved out of osition to engage the track the lower end 0 the boss .is provided with a squared aperture 13 adapted to register with either one of the circular apertures 14: formed in the lower end of the bar so as to receive the bolt 15 which extends all the way through the door and has its clamping nut 16 arranged upon the inside of the door so as to prevent its removal. A number of the holes 14 are preferably provided so that the bar may be adjusted to engage and cooperate with tracks of different widths. The bolt 15 when engaged in the aperture 13 and either one of the apertures 14 prevents removal of the door either by shaking or jarring or by unauthorized persons as all nuts are upon the inside of the door and all bolt holes in the hanger are squared to prevent turning of the bolts.
l/Vhatis claimed is 1. A hanger comprising a body recessed 75 upon its inner side, a recessed head carried by the body, a wheel journaled in the head and adapted to engage a track on its upper side, a sliding locking bar arranged to engage beneath the track and having means to engage the inner side of the track, means to acljustably hold said bar within the recess, and means for securing the hanger to the door and for holding the bar in adjusted position.
2. A hanger comprising a body recessed upon its inner side, a recessed head carried by the body, a wheel journaled in the head and adapted to engage a track on its upper side, a sliding locking bar arranged to engage beneath the track and having means to engage the inner side of the track, means to adjustably hold said bar within the recess, means for securing the hanger to the door, and means secured from the inside for 95 securing the hanger to the door and for holding the bar in adjusted position.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
