A conductor 29 is connected with the contact 26 and extends through a bell 30, the free terminal of the conductor 29 being tapped onto the conductor 10. The windings of the magnets 17 of the relay are connected in an electric circuit comprising a fusible wire 31 extending through the bi'lilding` or other structure to be protected, and a battery 32 connected in the fusible conductor.
In the event of the fusing lof the wire 31, the flow oi' current through the windings of the magnets 17 of therelay 16 is interrupted whereby the spring of the armature re- I. acts and swings the latter into engagement with the contacts 24, and 26 whereby the transmitter I is again connected with the line and the bell energized,l the conductor 3 being connected with the ground by way of the conductor 27, contact point 24, contact point 25, conductor 28 and conductor 13, while current flows from one side of the battery l2, through the conductors l0 and 29 and the bell 80, thecontact 26, conductor 28 and the portion of the conductor 13 back to the battery. Thus, the operator, upon listening in will hear the bell 30.
From the foregoing description taken in of illustration, I wish it to be understood that I do not limit or conne myself to the precise details of construction herein described and delineated, as modiication and variation may be made within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
In a signal system, the combination with a telephone transmission line, of an auxiliary transmitter having one terminal connccted to one side of said line, a three point switch comprising two contacts and a switch blade movable into and out of engagement with said contacts simultaneously, a connection between the remaining terminal of said transmitter and one contact of said switch, a connection between the switch blade of said switch and the ground whereby when the blade is in closed position the circuit through the transmitter will be completed, an audible signal having one terminal eenI nected to the remaining contact of said switch, a source of energy having one side connected with the remaining terminal ot said signal and the opposite side connected to the connection between said switch blade and the ground whereby when the blade is in closed position the circuit through said audible signal will be closed and the audible signal sounded to send the sound waves over said telephone transmission line by way of said auxiliary transmitter.
