Letters Patent No. 111,061, dated January 17, 1871;:
IMPROVEMENT m 'cRus Ne Anni-mums ATTACHMENTS TO GRINDING-MILLS;
The schedule referred 'to these Letters Patent and making part 5; the same.
We, Gnomes G. hOHENSTELN' and CHARLES '1 GLAESER, both of Cincinnati, Haniiltonconn ty, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Crushing and Hulling Attachment for Grinding-Miils of which the following is a specification. 7
Nature and Objects of the Invention This is an iuiprovement'in the class of deri'ces em-- ployed to hull and partially crush the grain on its way to the hopper ofva grinding mill, and comprises two unequalrollers, of which thedarger onehas a smooth and the smaller on a corrugated periphery, an adjustable throat, and suitable receiving, and delivery-spouts. i
General Description with Reference to the Drawing.
Figure 1 is a transverses'eetion of our attachment.
Figure 2 casing.
A represents a portion of the hopper of an ordinary grinding-mill.
B,.a portion of the frame-work of the same, to which is firmly bolted a frame, O, in which frame are journaled two horizontal shafts, D E, of two rollers, F G, of which the. upper and larger roller, F, has a smooth periphery, and the smaller and lower roller, G, has a periphery armed with a series of cogs or wipers, of form substantially as represented, and whose points revolve almost in contact with the periphery of F.
' "lhe rollers F and G are inclosed in suitable concares, H and Litirnishedl with a hopper, J, above is a'top i'iew of the same without the their point of interseetion, anda spout, K, somewhat below the saine.
L is athroat, having a convex face or end portion, 1, which is adjusted tonear proximity to the roller F by means of a set-screw, M. v
N is a chute or mouth-piece, attached to the concave I by a flexible plate, 0, and connected to thethroat- L by a pin, a. This mouth-piece operates'to prevent the graiu'working back behind thecorrugatcd rollerG, and conducts it between the throat L and large roller F, to receive its .fiual squeeze before 7 mouth-piece N, and adjustable oonvex'throat L, as and for the purpose set 'forth.
In testimony'of which invention we hereunto set our hands.
' GEORGE O. HOHENSTEIN.
O. T. GLAESER.
