Description

UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
FERDINAND s'rnmvnnne,
OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO JOHN FOLCZ, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PAINT COMPQSITION.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 15, 1914.
No Drawing. Application filed December 30, 1913. Serial No. 809,479.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND STERN- nnno, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and resident of the city of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in a Paint Composition, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to a paint composition, and more especially to a composition for green paint adapted for use upon metal articles.
An object of the invention is to provide a paint for use upon metal articles and especially automobile bodies which will produce a high degree of gloss and luster of a charactor that will not-grow dull but will remain free from dust.
A still further object is to provide a brilliant green paint having the appearance of reflecting various metallic colors and upon being applied with a painters brush in the usual manner, will produce a glistenin sparkling finish with a green .backgroun having-a twinkling reflecting efit'ect.
My compound is prepared in the form of a paint powder and it consists of the following ingredients combined in substantially the proportions hereinafter specified.
Green ultramarine 100 parts Verdigris 25 parts Finely pulverized copper 15 parts .Indigo blue 25 parts Prepared violet anilin 5 parts All of the above ingredients are finely powdered and then thoroughly mixed together, and in preparing for use, a further mixing of said powdered ingredients is hadwith varnish and japan as a drier.
-When employed upon small articles, the
articles so coated may be dried or baked in an oven. y 1
This paint may be employed upon wood if desired although especially adapted for coating metal.
While I am aware that one or more of the above ingredients such as anilin,.has heretofore been employed in a paint composition, I am not aware that the combination of all of my ingredients has ever been so employed nor that the relative proportions named have ever been used, and I therefore confine myself to the ingredients employed and the purpose stated. Commingling of all of said ingredients unitedly into a single composition and most perfectly in the exact proportions named, produces an untarnishing paint coating for metal superior to that which is obtained by the separate use or substitution for any ofthe ingredients now 'em loyed. It will also be apparent that a di erent color may be produced by changing the color of the predominating element.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- 'ters Patent of the United States is finely powdered copper 15 parts, indigo blue 25g arts, and repared violet anilln 5 parts.
ultramarine 100 parts, verdigris 25 parts,
gned at t e city of New York, in the county of New York, and State of -New .York, this 26th day of December, A. D. 1913.
