Be it known that I, Eoonxn G. Lunsixo, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, State of Illinois, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Metal-Cutting Tips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to metal cutting tips and. particularly to tips employed in the ogiygen-acetylene or similar gas mixture cutting processes.
The object of the invention is to provide a construction of cutting tip which 18 simple, efi' cie'nt, and, economical to make.

In the use of cutting tips of the nature and class employed for cutting metals with gas mixture flames,"it is customary to provide moans for-supplying a preheating flame as well as what may be termed a reheating flame, one or both, to the metal to be cut in addition to the'cutting jet itself, the pro heating flame being applied to the metal, in advance of the cutting flame, with. reference to the direction of the cut, while the reheat ing flame follows the cutting jet, and serves to clear out the heri made by the cutting jet. The cutting jet consists of pure oxygen alone, while the preheating and reheating flames are required to d lopintense heat. Consequently the preheatmg and reheatingflames are ordinarily sustained by a gas in conjunction with oxygen, or a mixture. of suitable gesesin the required proportion to Specification of Letters Patent.
