In the passage of the thread-mass carriers 39 about said center and relatively to said strand guides 28p, the strands'27 are moved from a position above to a position below said thread-mass carriers and must .therefore pass beneath said thread-mass carriers when in their lowermost positions. To facilitate the passage lof said thread beneath said carriers, I have provided means for feeding the saine therebeneath, which consist. of a series of radially disposed rotatable members 42, 42 arranged in pairs and each pair adapted to support a carrier, each of said members preferably consisting of a Shaft 43 having rolls 44 and 4.5 located ad- 45 jacent the inner and outer ends respectively of said shaft 43 and a pinion'46 secured adjacent to said inner roll 44. The rotatable members 42 are journaled at their opposite ends to rotate in bearings formed in the support 318, said members being preferably located in pairs Within segmental apeitures 47 which are formed by the radially disposed arms 48and the annular rim 49 connecting the outer ends of said arms and the annular rim 50, connecting t-he inner ends of said arms 48'and mountedupon a disk 51 secured Yonsaid sleeve 14. The outer bearings for i said rotatable members 42, hereinbetore mentioned, are formed in the rim 49: Whilesaid innerl bearings are formed in brackets 51 secured upon the rim 50.

The operation of the machine is as tollovvszvlhe thread-mass 40 is placed upon the spindle of the thread-mass carrier 39 and the thread drawn therefrom around the thread-mass carrier frame 54, through the guide 41 and'thence to the bushing 12 at the center of said machine Where it is connected with the threads leading'l from said series of thread-masses. The thread-mass carriers 39 are place'clfupontheir respective pairs or' rotatable members with the rollers 55 and 56 engaging the rollers 44 and 45 respectively,
and with the rollers 58 engaging the ,groove 59inthe flange 57,the strands are then drawn from the thread-masses 'through the thread guides in their respective levers to the thread guides 28, thence through the slots 26 and to the center bushing 12. kUpon the rotation of the shaft 16 through the power transmitting instrumentalities, the pinion 21 is rotated which in turn rotates the ,gear in one direction, and the gear formed by the teeth 23 upon the support QQ, simultaneously in opposite directions. The lrear 15 through the sleeve 14 imparts a rotatory motion to the thread-mass support 38 inthe opposite direotion to the strand carrier 2Q and by said rotation the shafts 42 Will be rotated through their respective pinions 46 engaging the ear 52. During the rotation of the support 22 the levers 29 are oscillated upon the rackets by the roll 32 engaging the cam oove 33 which actuate the strand guides ;-28,7Whereby said strands 27 are moved above andjbeloiv the thread-masses and while said'strands 27 are below said thread-masses 4,0I they will be fed beneath the same by the rotatory movement of said rods 44 and 45 in engagement with rolls and 56 respectively.
The foregoing detailed description has* been given for the purpose of elucidating the invention in its preferred embodiment and no undue limitations should be understood therefrom, but the claims should be construed as broadly as permissible in view of the prior art.

1. A braid-ing machine having, in combination, a carrier support, a plurality of pairs of rotatable members mounted on said carrier support, a series of thread-mass carriers each having rollers thereon adapted to engage one of said pairs of rotatable members,

3. A braiding machine having, in combi'- nation, a strand guide support, a series of strand guides mounted thereon having strands leading ytherefrom to a center, a flange on said support, a thread-mass carrier support, a plurality of pairs of rotatable members mounted on said support, rolls located adjacent to 4each ofy the ends of said rotatable members, a series of threadmasscarriers, a roller at each e'nd of said thread-mass carriers, having rolling' engagement with the rolls on the adjacent ends of said pairs of rotatable members respectively, a pair of rollers mounted upon said threadmass carriers, the centers of the rollers constituting said pair being located above the centers of said first named rollers and upon opposite sides or' a` vertical plane containing the axes of both oit' said first mentioned rollers and adapted to engage said flange to retainsaid rolls and said first mentioned rollers in rotatable engagement.
4. A braiding machine having, in combination, a strand guide support, a series of strand guides mounted thereon having strands leading therefrom `to a center, a flange on said support provided with a groove, a thread-mass carrier support, a plurality of pairs of rotatable members mounted on said sup ort, rolls located adjacent to each of the en s of said rotatable members,

A braiding` machine having, in combination, a stationary central supporting tube, a sleeve rotatable von said tube having a bevel gear secured thereto, a series of strand guides, a strand guide ,support rotatably mounted on said sleeve and provided with a bevel gear, a bevel pinion adapted to engage said lirst and second mentioned bevel gears, and to impart a rotary motion thereto in opposite directions, a thread-mass carrier support secured upon said sleeve and provided with a series of rotatable members, pinions secured on said rotatable members respectively, a series of thread-mass carriers having rollers thereon adapted to engage said rotatable members, mechanism adapted to actuate said strand guides to move strands over and under said threadmass carriers, a bevel gear secured to said stationary tube ,having teeth adapted to engage said pinions whereby said rotatableI lrimessi@ membersmay be rotatedeby the rotation oiy table members, a .stationary disk having teeth upon its under margin, adapted to engage said pinions, the uppermost points in the peripheries of said rolls being substantially in alinemen't with that portion of the uppermost face of said disk lying between saidl rolls and the center of said disk, a series of thread-mass carriers having .rollers at opposite ends thereof, each ,of saidV rollers adapted to rotatably Iengage two of the adjacent rolls on said rotatable members, mechanism adapted to rotate said support relatively to said disk, a series of strand guides adapted tol be rotated relatively to said thread-mass carriers, and means tor-actuate saidguides to move strands over and under said carrier.
