Letters Patent No. 110,508, dated December 27, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN EYELET-MACHINES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it hmyconccra:
Be it known that I, STEPEEN N. SMITH, of the city and county .of ProvidenceV and Stute ot' Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Machines for Making Eyelets; and'l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, und exact description, referente being had to the accompanying drawing making part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front elevation of my improved eyeletmaking-machine.
Figure 2 is a side elevation'of the same.
My invention relates to and'cousists in an improvement for regulating the pressure upon feeding-devices, as hereinafter first described in connection with au eyeletV-machine, and subsequently pointed out in -the` claim.
lln fig. 1 ofthe drawing are shown three punches A, B, and C, operated consecutively by cams on the driving-shaft.
H`K K are the successive dies G, a supporting or feeding-plate for the eyelet-stoek to rest upon in passing to the dies and punches; and
Iv is another supporting or'dischargng-plate for the delivery' ofthe prepared stock in line from the dies and punches y The cam S, lever l?, uger F, and i pawl E constitute the device or means employed to feed the eyeletstockv to the dies and punches, vand the cam N, rod M, lever L, Arod and nut 0 P, and spring Q, constitute 'the mechanism for controlling the action ot'. the feeding-device to adapt'it to the requirements ofthe-dies and punches.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understandingof my invention,
What I esteem to be new, and desire-to protect by The device for regulating thepressure upon the feeding-patti,- consisting of a cam, N, rod M, lever L, rod Q, nut P, and spring Q, all arranged to operate together'as'aud for the purpose specified.V f
