a citizen of the United States, and a resident in the county of Cook and State invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drill-Extension De vices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to be used with drill extension telescoping tubes now known and used in the art in boilers and other like places, for drilling holes to which access by other means, is difficult. i v

It will be observed that the annular rib forming the cylindrical wall of part a of the passage way through shell A, presents on the faces-thereof abutments, or annular tables against which the ends of the tubes X and Z, and the flange on button W abut, and by means of which the further movement of said parts in said passage way is prevented.

A shell provided with a cylindrical passageway of more than one diameter extending longitudinallytherethrough the part of said passage way which is of Smallest diam- "eter obtained by means of an annular rib with tables on the faces thereof adapted to form abutments, and said shell also provided with longitudinally extending slots open at the ends of said shell, lugsontsaidshell, adjacentto said slots, said shell and lugs provided with laterally extending holes and laterally extending screw threaded holes, in combination with screw threaded bolts to fit said holes and the screw threads thereon to engage with the threads in the screw threaded holes, said holes and bolts therein arranged to contract the slotted portion of said shell on to a cylindrical article contained therein at 'each'end thereof. 2. A shell provided with a cylindrical passage way of more than one diameter extending longitudinally theiethrough the part of said passage way which is of smallest diameter being obtained by means of an annular rib with tables on the faces thereof adapted to form abutments, and said shell also provided with longitudinally extending slots open at the ends of said shell, adjacent to said slots, said lugs respectively provided with laterally extending holes, in combination with a bolt provided with an annular groove, said bolt adapted to extend through said laterallyextend'ing holes, means to contract the slotted portions of said shell on to the bodies contained in said cylindrical passage way, an abutment on said shell, a longitudinally movable pin in said abutment, and means to yieldingly hold said pin in an advanced position to engage with said groove in the bolt which is in' the laterally extending holes and adjacent to said pin.
