To all 'whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, MAURICE PETERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Park City, in the county of Summit and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wet-Screens, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to wet screens for screening crushed or pulverized mineral bearing material, and has for its object to provide a circular moving automatically dumpingscreen over which crushed ore may be passed for sizing. These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which similar letters yand numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the several figures, and as described in the specification forming a part of this application and'pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings in which I have shown a substantial embodiment of my invention Figure 1 is a plan view of the screen. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of parts of the screen frames and connections showing two sections ofthe screen frames partially inclined. Fig. 1 is a plan view in detail of one of the detachable screen sections. Fig. 5 is an edge elevation of one of the screen sections and an elevation of the cleaning spray pipe parts cut away. Fig. 6 is an inverted plan view of the discharge end of one end of the feed chutes and the adjacent spray pipe. Fig. 7 is an inverted plan view of one of the screen frames and the cleaning spray pipes.
In screening crushed ore for treatment to extract the mineral values therefrom, it is desired that the crushed material be passed over screens in order that the ma terial which has received sulicient crushing may be passed on for the other steps of eX- traction while the coarser particles are taken ofi' the screen and again subjected to crushing and screening in order that all of the material may have the same sized particles and to facilitate this separation water is used to pass the slimes and crushed material through the screen.
The present invention is to provide a screen having greater capacity and which will automatically dump and clean itself in order that no clogging of the meshes of the screen will occur.
In the device shown in the drawings I provide a vertical shaft 1, mounted in suitable ball bearings 2 on its lower end and supported and held vertical by bearings 3 near its upper end but not shown. A means of rotating said shaft is provided through the beveled gear 18 to which power is applied in any suitable manner. A hub ais secured on the upper portion of said shaft 1 and rotated therewith. Four radially disposed spokes 5 eXtendfrom said hub through an inner rim 6 and into an outer rim 7. Radially disposed rods 8 are carried in said rims 6 and 7, and on the outer end of each is secured a cross bar 9. The inner ends of said rod 8 are outwardly flanged to hold them in longitudinal position in said rims. A plurality of quadrilaterally shaped frames l0 are provided, and each of said frames is hingedly fastened to one of said cross bars 9. On the outer and longer side of each of said frames 19 are provided two grooved wheels 12 and said wheels are pivotally connected with said frames in order that they may ride on an elliptical track 18. The said track 18 is rigidly supported in place, and in the ellipse are placed on different planes with an inclined portion leading from one plane to the other, presenting an undulating portion of said track. Two feed chutes 15 are provided, each having a slotted discharge 16, and they discharge on the screens while said screens are running over the upper plane' of the track. An air and water spray pipe 17 is provided at one side of said feed chute 15 in order that water and air under pressure may be forced on to the ore immediately after it has been fed through said feed chutes on to the screen passing thereunder. Below and inclined to the same degree as the lower plane of the track 13 will carry the frames 10 when passing thereover is positioned an inclined spray pipe 18, having perforations on its upper side to allow water to spray said screens from the lower side as they pass thereover. The said frames 10 are spaced apart in order that the undulating movement of saidframes will not be impeded and an A-shaped cover 2O is secured on the outer rim 7 to prevent crushed material from falling between the screens. In each of said frames 10 is detachably carried a ine meshed wire screen 19 suitably mounted on a frame or binding and conforming to the size and shape of said frame 10, and held in said frame l by its weight.'` use the individual screens 19 on the said frames 10 Jfor convenience in vrepairing and construction.

crushed ore with sufficient water to make it` move freely is fed into and falls through the chute on to the revolving screen, and
as the position of said chute 15 is such that` the ore will fall on to the sections of the screen that are passing over the upper horizontal plane or the track, and as the screen revolves the undulations of the track will incline the screen in lthe direction of its movement, and also'away from the axis of the shaft 1. Thespray of water and air` passing through the pipes 16 will Wash all of the liner particles through the screens 19 while in their horizontal positions, and into suitable launders `which are not shown, and the liner particles will thus be carried away. The coarser kparticles carried on the screen when subjected to the spray from beneath the screen through the pipe 18` will be washed off` of the screen and fall into launders7 suitably provided, and carried oi forA further crushing. As will be obvious the operation of my screen is continuous and in each revolution two batches of crushed material are fed on opposite sides of the screen in the horizontal position and immediately subjected to the washing ofthe spray oit' water and-air and as the screens pass down the incline to the lower plane of thetrack they will be cleaned.
