LAMP-$HADE HOLDER.
11,191,993, Specification o e ters Patent.
Patented dept. 12, 191%..
Application filed April 11, 1916. Serial No. 90,300.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, DAVED ZAKIM, a citizen of Russia, and a resident of New York city, in the county of Bronx and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Shade Hold-- ers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a lamp shade holder of novel construction which is of superior strength,'not liable to become loose during use, and permits a ready assemblage of its parts.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is aside elevation partly in section of a lamp shade holder embodying my invention; Fig' 2 a horizontal section on line 22 Fig. 1; Fig. 3 an enlarged section on line 33 Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 a vertical section through the shade supporting ring.
The shade holder comprises essentially, a plurality of upright rods 1, the lower ends of which are bent inwardly so as to converge toward each other in a substantially horizontal plane. The tips of these ends are flattened as at 2, and are secured to a common plate 3 which is mounted on the stem 4 of the lamp. Plate 3 is composed of an annular body from which extend, a plurality of radial arms 5, each of which receives one of the flattened ends 2 of rods 1, which is riveted to said arm as at 6. The central opening of plate 3 is provided with an upwardly extending threaded inner flange 7 which receives stem 4, while a divided outer flange 8, extends along the sides of the arms 5, and also along the outer perimeter of the reliablev connection between rods and plate.
is procured, which permits a ready assemblage of the parts and securely locks the rods in position. At their upper ends, rods 1 are likewise flattened as at 9, and are riveted as at 10 to a shade supporting ring 11. This ring is stepped, being provided with a horizontal web 12, and an upright flange 13, on which the shade 11 is centered. The upper ends of rods 1, abut against the horizontal web 12, so that in this way, the weight of the shade will not be liable to loosen the connection between rods and ring.
I claim:
A lamp shade holder comprising an annular plate adapted to be mounted upon a lamp stem, said plate being provided with a plurality of arms, and with a divided flange that extends along the sides of said arms and also along the perimeter of the plate intermediate said arms, that section of the flange which extends along the plate intermediate the arms being integral with those sections of the flange which extend along said arms. a plurality of upright rods having inwardly deflected lower ends that are riveted to said arms, and a shade supporting ring mounted on the rods.
DAVED ZAKIM.
