To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIZABETH A. Mon- GAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Omemee, in the county of Bottineau and State of North Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stocking-Supporters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to stocking supporters, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a supporter which will not tear or injure the stocking, and which'will be reliable and efficient in use and not liable to become detached to release the stocking from the supporter.
rlhe stocking supporters in common use are veryinjurious to the stockings owing to the fact that the clasps are liable to start one or more of the threads, especially in silk stockings and said threads will run from the top to the bottom of the stockings, thus injuring the appearance and eventually destroying the stocking.
The object of this invention is to provide a stocking holder which will not injure the stocking, and which will perform its function properly.
The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a stocking supporter made in accordance with this invention, and shown connected through an eyelet at the top of a stocking broken away below the top, Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the supporter disconnected from the stocking and made on a slightly larger scale, and Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1, and made on a larger scale.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a stocking and 2 is an eyelet secured near the upper edge of the stocking, said eyelet being formed of metal, Celluloid, or said eyelet may be worked in the stocking by button hole stitches, if desired.

and spaced members 7, said members being curved at 8, and the bill of the hook lying parallel with the tab portion to which it is secured. Connected to the tab 3 adjacent the hook, is a cord loop, said cord loop comprising the two members 9 connected together for a portion of their length, and the two members being separated to form a loop 10. The loop 10 is adapted to pass through the eyelet 2, and to be connected to the hook 6. The outer flap 11 of the tab 3 is provided with a socket member 12 of an ordinary glove fastener, said socket member adapted to engage a ball member 13 secured to the other member of the tab 3, as shown more clearly in Fig. 2. The ball member is connected to a reinforcing piece 14:.
The tab 3 may be supported by the means of a loop 15 and said loop being supported from a corset or from a waist belt.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that two or more of the supporting devices may be connected to the stocking and the stock ing may have a plurality of eyelets or worked button-holes therein.
Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claim.
