A pipe section 31 is threaded upwardly through the block 8 and within which the tubular'member 28 is received as clearly shown, while an elbow 32 joins the. lower end of the vertical pipe. 31 to the. horizontal pipe 33. A \viek 34 ot'any desired form is positioned in the pipe 353 and the oil or other burning tluid fed from the c vlinder 25 passes dmvnwardly through the tubular member 28 to be absorbed by'thc wick 3i.
The burner is mounted in a protective casing consisting of a substantially reversed L-shaped member 35 having the lower front wall thereof turned upwardly as at 36 to provide a lip so that the material contained within the casing and surrounding the burner pipes will be prevented from falling out. It is preferably desired to till the burner pipe casing with clay, sand or similar material so that the flame from the wicks 3 will not be blown baekwardly into the casing by the fan wheel 16.
The platform 9 carries an. operators seat 37 while'therear end of the frame. bars 5 are supported upon rollers 38 mounted in arms 39 that are fixed to the horizontal shaft 42 jonrnaled in the bearings 41 upon the platform 9. A crank handle. 42 is fixed to'the. shaft and carries a tensioned locking nod 43 adapted for engagement with the segment ru'ck 44 so 'that by shifting the crank handle 42 rearwardly from the positl'on shown m Fig. 1, the supporting arms 2 39 of the rear wheels 38 will be moved to a substantially vertical position and elevate the rear end of theframe so as to regulate the distance between the burner and the ground. In order to prevent side air drafts from interfering with the usual operation of the burners, there are provided side wind shields 45 supported as by bolts 46 to the side bars 5 of the frame with the lower edges thereof extendingslightly below the burner as is indicated in Fig. 1
By the forward propulsion of the machine, the land roller 10 is driven in the direction as indicated by the arrow in Fig. 1 which communication is tra-nsn'iitted to the fan blower 16 by the sprocket and gear connection above described so' that the fan blower will be rotated in the direction as in- .dicated by the arrow. The. air is blown downwardly upon the. ground by the. particular disposition of the blades 17 and the flame from the wick 34 is accordingly down wardly directed into direct contact with stalks, weeds or other rubbish to be burned.
the land roller 16, it is to be understood that the device may be readily applied to the present construction of land roller by the simple addition of a sprocket gear upon the land roller bearing and the operation thereof will be identical.
While the form of the invention herein shown and described is what is believed to be the preferred embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that various forms, modifications and arrangements of the parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as new is:
