CAKE, BISCUIT, AND DOUG-I-INUT CUTTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 27, 1916.
Application filed June 18, 1914. Serial No. 845,931.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ROBERT B. CLAYrooL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo Hart, in the county of Sangamon, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cake, Biscuit,
and Doughnut Cutters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to cake, biscuit and doughnut cutters.
The object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of the character named wherein the portion thereof which effects the cutting of the hole in the doughnut may be removed so as to render the device capable of cutting a solid disk of material to be cooked.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of the character named which will be simple in construction, efficient in use and which may be manufactured at a relatively small cost.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the inventionin detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the invention; Fig. 2, is a bottom view thereof; Fig. 3, a section on the line of Fig. 1, and Fig. i, a perspective view of the doughnut hole cutting attachment removed.
Referring to the drawings the invention is shown as comprising a frame A including cross arms 10 and 11. he terminals of the arms 10 and 11 are forked to form resulting arms 12 and 13 and the free ends of each pair of arms 12 and 13 are secured to the top 14 of a circular cutter 15, by binding screws 20. The top 14. of each cutter is provided with an opening 16. The attachment for cutting the hole in doughnuts and which is adapted to be associated with each cutter 15 comprises a circular frame. 17 having diametrically opposite arms 18 provided with lateral recesses 19 adapted to receive the screws 20, respectively.
Threaded on each screw 20 is a binding nut 21 whereby the frame 17 may be clamped to the top 14. Fixed to each frame 17 is a tubular member 22 the bore of which registers with the opening in the frame 17. When the attachment is applied to the cutter 15, the tubular member 22 projects through the opening 16 and has its cutting edge in the same plane as the cutting edge of the cutter l5. l/Vhen the attachment just described is associated with the cutters 15 it will be obvious that doughnuts may be cut with rapidity from the desired material. l/Vhen such attachment is removed, the device will cut solid disks of material such as are required for biscuits and cakes. The arm 11 has secured thereto, a suitable handle 23 for convenience in operating the device.
What is claimed is:-
'1. A device of the class described comprising a continuous cutter including a crown portion provided with an opening, screws fixed to said crown portion on opposite sides of the opening, a tubular member engaged through the opening having opposite arms at one end overlying the crown portion and provided with recesses receiving said screws, and binding nuts on said screws clamping said arms to the crown portion.
2. A device of the class described comprising a plurality of continuous cutters each including a crown portion provided with an opening, screws fixed to each crown portion on opposite sides of the opening, a tubular member engaged through each opening and having opposite arms at one end over lying the crown portion and. provided with recesses receiving said screws, a plurality of mutually connected cross bars having their terminals forked to form arms each of which latter is provided with a recess receiving the screws of a related cutter, and nuts threaded on the screws of each cutter for clamping the parts together.
In testimony whereof, I my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
