I-IIEATER ATTACHMENT FOR RANGE-BOILERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 30, 1916.
Application filed October 29, 1915. Serial No. 58,636.
and useful Heater Attachment for Range Boilers, of which the following 1s a specification. i
The present invention relates to improvements in heater attachments for range boilers.
"The primary object of this invention is theprovision of a heater attachment for disposition within a boiler, the same being so disposed therein as to provide a sediment compartment above the same and to at the same time provide a complete water circulaof' said attachment being disposed-in close proximity to the bottom of the boiler to be heated by a gas burner attachment and for domestic purposes.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a novel construction of heating drumhaving inlet tubes disposed to permit of the'proper circulation of the water to and through the drum without the entrance of sediment and with a circulating tube concentrically of the boiler with outlets near the'top, to provide .a complete circulation of the body of water within the boiler.
' With the foregoing and other objects in spout (not shown) view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it that changes in-the precise embodiment of' the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the dra'wingsfFigure 1 'is 'a vertical central sectional view through a range boiler with the. present attachment in operable relation thereto. Fig. 2 is a section taken on line 22 of Fig. 1.
- Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates which is of usual'construetionhaving the bottom 1 provided with the usual draw-off and supported upon the pedestal 2. The usual feed pipe '3 and lead pipe 4 are provided.
The heating attachment consists of a hol-.
the heating chamber being understood the casingof the range boiler,
livery of the cooler water to a point closer to the bottom 6. Disposed concentrically of the dome of the drum 5 and extending concentrically throughout the fulllength of the boller 1 and secured to the head of the boiler by means of the lock nut and plug 9 is the hot water circulating pipe 10, in whose upper end within the boiler 1 are provided the outlet apertures 11.
In order to provide a means for draining the sediment collected above the dome of the drum 5, the draw-off cocks 12. are provided.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings it is evident that with the present form of attachment afiame from the burner B will cause the heating of the water Within the drum 5 and that the water therein and within theboiler 1 due to such heating will circulate and follow the direction of the arrows.
By inclosing the heater attachment within a boiler, the same will not interfere with the usual range heating attachment and as the same is encased and entirely submerged within the water within the boiler it will not unduly corrode .and is in ready position at all times for heating the water by means of a gas burner. I WVhat is claimed is: v
' The combination with a boiler, of a hollow heating drum fittedwithin the boiler adjacent the lower end thereofand' having a dome-shaped top providing sediment col-- lecting .means adjacent the walls of the boiler, a drain cock attached to one Wall of the boiler immediately above the drum for draining out the sediment, a hot water riser pipe attached to the centerof the top of the drum and projecting upwardly within the boiler, the "upper end of the riser pipe-extending through the upper end of the boiler, the riser pipe having apertures adjacent the ripper end of the boiler, a plug engaging the In testiniony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
GEORGE B. BAKER. Witnesses:
CARL Y. SEMPLE, EMMA HOPPER.
