THOMAS E. VINESKI, OF TROY, PENNSYLVANIA.
DOUBLE ENVELOP.
Application filed May 15, 1915.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS E. Vmnsm, a citizen of the United States, residing at Troy, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Double Envelops; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to double envelops, made from a single piece of paper of the required character, and the principal object of the invention is to provide an envelop which can be used for sending out samples, for advertising purposes, for filing away various small articles, for use as a collection envelop, and for many other purposes, sald envelop adapted to be folded, with the envelops at each end of the blank folded inside, and the entire device connected together by means of a cord or band.
The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illus-- trated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the paper blank for forming a double envelop. Fig. 2 is a plan view showing one portion of one of the envelops folded over on the blank, Fig. 3 is a plan view showing one of the envelops completely folded, and the other in the process of folding, Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 4& of Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 55 of Fig. 3.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the paper webbing which connects the two envelops, and on this paper may be printed any suitable advertisement relating to the class of goods to be inclosed within the envelops as samples or any other character of advertising. At opposite ends of the paper blank portion l are envelops of like construction, and hence the description of one will answer for both, said envelops being merely reversed on the opposite ends of the blank but made of the same.
general construction and form.
The envelop at each end of the blank comprises the body portion 2 having a slit 3 Specification of Letters Patent.

out therefrom, said slit being substantially the shape of a sealing flap. Projecting from each side of the body portion 2 of the envelop is a side flap 4 adapted to be folded on the dotted line 5. At the end of the blank is a bottom flap 6 adapted to be folded on the dotted line 7. In folding the envelop, the paper is first folded on the line 8, as shown in Fig. 2. The flap 9 is then folded outwardly, as shown in Fig. 3. The body portion 2 of the envelop is connected b means of the adhesive substance 10, thus covering the aperture 11 which is formed by cutting out the flap 9. It is to be noted that the paper at the point 12 is left ungummed, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing. After the envelo has been folded as shown in Fig. 2 o the drawings the side flaps 4 are folded over toward the center, and the flap 6 is folded on the line 7, and connected by the adhesive strips 13 to the side flaps 4, when the sealing flap 9 is gummed down on top of the flap 6 by means of the adhesive substance 14, as shown more clearly at the right end of Fig. 3.
At the folded ends of the envelop, fastening disks 15 are secured by means of a suitable rivet or eyelet 16 and when the envelop is folded centrally, both envelops are inside, and a cord or string may be connected to the disks 15 for holding the envelops closed.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that the two envelops at opposite ends of the blank are readily accessible after the blank has been opened out, and that such an envelop is capable of many uses, can be manufactured at comparatively low cost, provides a very useful double envelop for many uses in commercial lines as well as for church collections, for filing away articles or papers, and for many other uses.
Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the inventionas defined the claim.
What is claimed is A double envelop comprising a paper blank and having a central connecting web, said blank provided at opposite ends with side flaps, a bottom flap, a sealing flap provided in the central portion of each envelop, adhesive material on one face of the connecting flap adjacent each end thereof, each of the folded portion of each of said envelops said envelops when assembled to have their securing the same together. it
