SPECIAL FORM OF ATTACHMENT FORBUGKETS AND THE LIKE.
Application filed October 3, 1914..
- to which it appertains to make and use the which are made a part of this application, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the upper portion of a pail containing one of my coolers. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross section of the upper end of the cooler on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig; 3 shows a section of the yoke, with the bayonet slot therein.
An ordinary pail 3 is provided with ears at, having bayonet slots 5 therein, the said ears are fastened by rivets adjacent the edge of the said pail at points diametrically opposite each other, with that part of the ear containing the said slot projecting above the rim of the said pail.
A yoke comprising two metal bars 6 and 7, bent in their central part into a half circle and the ends extended laterally and riveted together so that the two half circles will form a true circle the riveted ends extending to and slightly beyond the rim of the pail when they are positioned thereon, the extremities of the extended ends are fashioned to enter and snugly fit the said slots 5 in the said ears On diametrically opposite sides of the circle thus formed half way between the two extended ends and in the lower edge of the bars, are formed two bayonet slots 8 and 9 which engage proiecting studs secured to the cooler as will be more fully described later.
The cooler 10 comprises a container of Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 864,800.
smaller diameter and less depth than the pail 3. The upper edge 11 thereof is turned outwardly and downwardly forming a depending lip or annular flange 12 which is designed to prevent the drip of water from the cooler when it is being emptied of its contents the said flange catching and retaining any moisture that may adhere to the sides of the cooler when it is lifted from the pail and reversed in its position by the act of emptying the contents thereof. Upon the flange 12 are secured two studs 13 and 14 adapted to engage the slots 8 and 9 for the purpose of securing the cooler 10 within the said yoke to prevent the cooler from floating upon the water in the pail 3 when the said cooler is wholly or partially empty. A lid 15 is provided to be used in connection with the cooler as may be desired.
In operation the cooler is positioned in the pail by first securing the yoke to the cooler by inserting the studs'13 and 14 in the slots 8 and 9 and then giving the yoke a slight'turn which engages the studs in the horizontal part'of its slots. The cooler is then attached to the pail by means of the slots 5 and the laterally extended arms of the yoke in a similar manner to that by which the yoke was attached to the cooler. The cooler is thus suspended within the pail without touching either sides or bottom. Water is poured into the pail until it approaches the top thereof, the top of the cooler being elevated sufliciently above the top of the pail by the yoke to prevent the water from entering the cooler which is now ready to receive the cream as it is collected and the cooling proceeds simultaneously with the gathering of the cream.
Believing that the construction, advantages and manner of using my invention have thus been made clearly apparent, further description is deemed unnecessary.
Having thus fully described my invention what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is In combination with a pail having ears attached thereto provided with bayonet slots. of a cooler of less diameter than said pail having a depending annular lip, studs secured to said lip, and a yoke having a central circular body portion provided with bayonet slots in its lower edge and laterally name to this specification in the presence of extending}:1 arilrns, the ends of said arms en two subscribing Witnesses. a in t e sets in said ears t e studs 0 Said c ooler engaging the slots in said cira. IVER IVERSEN' a cular body portion Whereby said cooler is Witnesses:
held in upright positionwithin said pail. HANS J. BE K, In testimony whereof I have signed my 1 AUKER M. BECK.
