To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROMAN KARPINSKI, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Export, in the county of lVestmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Explosive-Receptacles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to an (BXPlOSlWB receptacle, particularly designed for the carrying of explosives, by way of example powder, and has for its object to provide a receptacle of the flask type for use by miners and including a non-conducting body portion inclosed by an insulation wrapping whereby the accidental exploding of the contents of the receptacle, by gases or variation in temperature is reduced to a minimum.
\Vith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
The drawing illustrates an elevation, of an explosive receptacle in accordance with this invention.
Referring to the drawing in detail 1 denotes a body portion of a receptacle, formed of non-conducting material, preferably wood, is hollow to provide a chamber for the reception of the explosive and is further provided with a neck 2, closed by a stopper 3. The body portion 1 is furthermore provided with an outlet nipple 4, closed by a stopper or plug 5. The plugs 3 and 5 are constructed of non-conducting material such as glass.
The body portion 1, neck 2, and nipple 4 are completely enveloped by a wrapping of a strip of insulation such as asbestos, as indicated at 6, and the said strip is secured to the body portion 1, neck 2, and nipple l by a suitable adhesive and the winding of the strip is arranged in abutting engagement so as to completely inclose the body portion. Connected to the Wrapping 6, are the ends 7 8 of a resilient suspension strap.
The receptacle can be associated with a carrier, consisting of a U-shaped strap 9, having-a buckle 10 at each end, and the vertical portions of the strap are secured to the outer face of a band 11, which encircles the receptacle. The vertical portions of the strap 9 are positioned at the sides of the receptacle and project above the band 11. The carrier 9 protects the receptacle and also assists in securing the ends 7 and 8 of the suspension strap thereto.
What I claim is 1. An explosive receptacle comprising a body portion formed of non-conducting material and hollow to provide a chamber, said body portion further provided with a neck communicating with said chamber and an outlet nipple communicating With the chamber, independent means for closing the neck and nipple, a Wrapping for said body portion and neck, said Wrapping consisting of an insulation. strip Wound about said neck, nipple and body portion, the winding being arranged in abutting engagement and secured to the outer face of the,
neck, nipple and body portion.
2. An explosive receptacle comprising a body portion formed of a non-conducting material and hollow to provide a chamber, said body portion further provided with a neck communicating with said chamber and an outlet nipple communicating with the chamber, independent means for closing the neck and nipple, a spiral wrapping for said body portion and neck, said wrapping consisting of an insulating strip wound about said neck, nipple and body portion, the winding being arranged in abutting engagement and secured to the outer face of the neck, nipple and body portion, a resilient suspending strap having its ends connected to said wrapping, and a strap extending under the bottom and terminating side menn bers having buckles at the ends thereof and adapted to bear against the Wrapping, said side members being connected by a band adapted to encircle the body of said receptacle and bear against the Wrapping to Which the suspension strap is secured.
