IMPROVEMENT IN RANGE-SETTINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,727, dated August 8, 1871.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW I?. BARRY, of the city, county, and State of New York, have uinvented a new and Improved Range-Setting 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this speciiication.
rlhis invention relates to a newr setting for kitchenranges, and it consists in a cast-metal plate or setting to be used instead of the brickwork, as heretofore.
The drawing represents a perspective view of the front of a cast-metal setting for ranges, such as I propose.
I propose to have a wide cast-metal plate, A, as high as the wall of the room, with a cornice, B, at the top, an opening, C, at the front for the range, and a register, I), above the range for setting the latter, instead of the heavy and cumbersome brick-work now used. The said plate will fit snugly against the wall at the edges E and at the back F of the cornice, but between the edges E and the opening-for the range it will swell outward by graceful curves, as indicated at G, to the extent that it is desired to inclose the range. These improved range-settings may be afforded cheaper than the brick-Work, can be much more readily put in, and will be more ornamental.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A cast-metal plate adapted for setting up kitcheri-ranges, substantially as herein described.
