To all whomy it' may concern:

Be it known that l, donn NELSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stamford, in the county of Harlan and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Lines, of which the following is a specication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. f

.This invention relates to an improved clothes line and has for its primary object to provide a line for hanging or suspending clothes, which is so constructed that the use of pins or other analogous fastening` elements is rendered unnecessary.

It is a more particular object of Vthe invention to provide a clothes line embodying a plurality of links each constructed from a singleJ length upon itself to provide end loops in the link, the end portions of the wire being extended along and in contact with the medial portion thereof and the extremities of the wire permanently soldered together, said end -portions being provided with spaced bends therein to increase the gripping. action of the same upon the articles of clothing interposed between said ends of the wire and its medial portion.

The invention has for a further general object to improve and simplify the construction of devices of the above character, increase .their durability and efficiency in practical operation, and reduce the manufacturing cost thereof to a minimum.

Thus, the articles will be securely clamped'and held in the-several links insuch manner as to preclude the possibility though the articles are violently agitated by strong winds. lt will be understood that the articles can he very easily and quickly disengaged from simply grasping the side of the yend loops 6 tended, and pulling outwardly -up'on the same, thereby loosening the gripping action of the jaws 9 upon the articles so that said articles can be withdrawn from between the jaws and the opposed medial portion of the wire. link.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanyi ing, it manner of use the invention will be clearly derstood. While 1 have shown and described the preferred construction and arrangement of he several features of the device, it is to be inderstood that the same is susceptible of zonsiderable modification therein and I, therefore, reserve the privilegeoitl adopting all such legitimate modifications as may be fairly embodied Within the spirit and scope 3f the invention as claimed.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by LettersPatent is:-

A clothes line consisting of a series of links each formed from a single length of Wire bent upon itself to produce terminal loops for connection to the corresponding loops of adjacent links, the end portionsof the Wire being extended along the medial portion thereof and resiliently engaged With the same, said end portions of the Wire being permanently connected together at their eX- tremities and each end portion having a plurality of gripping jaws formed therein.
