To all whom it may concern Beitknown that I, HARRY ELMER BICK- NELL, a citizen of the United States, residing atNiagara Falls, in, the Province of Ontario and Dominion of Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Paper-Clasps, of which the following is a.

specificatio The present invention relates broadly to the class of paper clasps and more particularly to that class of such devices which are formed froma single sheet of material.

An object of my invention is as above set forth, to provide an improved paper.

clasp constructed from a single sheet ofmaterial, thus reducing its cost of manufacture I to a minimum.

Another object of my invention'is to provide a paper clasp wherein means are employed for insertion in the paper,means also being devised for obviating theaccidental dislodginent of the other means, thus add ing to the eiiiciency of the-device.

A further 1 object of my invention is to jarovide a paper clasp which is readily applicable to sheets of paper of different thicknesses, its attachment thereto being obviously facilitated through the medium of a tapering tongue.

A still further object ofiny invention re' lies in the provision of a device of the abovementioned character of such construction as to render the same cheap in manufacture, and easy to bend into shape.

With the above and other objects in view, my invention relates to such details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of the several parts as will be hereinafter fully described and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in Which:-

Figure 1 is a plan view of the blank form of clasp. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the gclasp illustrating the same in a locked po sition. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the clasp showing the manner in which the paper is engaged thereby, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the clasp.

I stamped from the member 13', in the manner s clearly illustrated in Fig; 1, the smaller portion of thistongue depending from the member after the latter has been bent into the position shown in Fig. 3, and in such a manner that when the member 13 is depressed, the same will be readily inserted through the sheets of paper. After the tongue is inserted through the sheets of 'pa per, it contacts the upper face of the body portion whereupon it is bent to extend parallel with the constricted portion 11, and to spring upwardly because of its nature of metal into close proximity with the portion 11, thus obviating its accidental removal.
