This position is useful for stopping the motor at any point in its stroke by equalizing the pressure in the tivo ends of the motor Cylinder, and as this position occurs during the Change of nosition of the valve from the )osition' l shown in Fig. l to that shown in Fig. 2, part of the linid contained in one end ot' the motor cylinder will passinto the opposite end of the inotor cylinder before that end is connected to the source ot' supply, thereby saving a Considerable quantity of coinpressedtinid in the operation of the motor.
lllhen the valve is in the position'shown in Fig, 3. the door or other object operated by the motor may he operated by hand. since the fluid in the inotor cylinder may be forced from one end ot' the motor cylinder to the other. vWhen the valve is moved to the cutoil1 position intermediate between the operating positions and the short oircniting positions just described, the door `will be checked pneuinatioally and looked against movement in either direction. This allows the door to be rst hecked and then, by a further movement of the valve. short cir` cuited7 so as to be free f or manual operation. Fig. 4 shows meohanisrn for operating tivo sets of valves from the saine position. It consists of a rod or pipe 17, surrounded by a pipe 18. Vhat I' claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
1. The combination with two separate motor-controlling valves. ot' adjacent operating handles therefor forming' the respective halves of a coinlnon loophandle.
