ORE-TREATING- APPARATUS;
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 28, 1914. Serial No. 835,036.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUBIN COLVIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Park City, in the county of Summit and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ore-Treating Apparatus,
of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in ore treating apparatus, and has particular reference to the means for effecting the reciprocatory movement of the tables embodied in such apparatus.
An important object of the invention is to provide means for reciprocating a plurality of tables arranged side by side, such means being simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong, durable, and not liable to derangements.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same, Figure 1 is a plan view of apparatus embodying my invention, and, Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view through the same.
In the drawings, the numeral 5 a foundation or base, upon which are suitably mounteda pair of lower longitudinally reciprocatory tables 6, which are laterally spaced for providing an opening therebetween." Arranged above the tables 6 are upper tables 7, secured thereto by brackets 8 and associated elements. The tables 6 and 7 reciprocate together, the tables 7 being also laterally spaced. I V
The numeral 9 designates a transverse operating shaft, journaled through bearings 10 and receiving its rotation from a wheel 11. This shaft is provided with a cam 12, operating within the upper forked end 13 of a vertical swinging lever 14, pivoted at 15. The lower end of the lever 14: is provided with a longitudinal slot 16, receiving a pin 17 or the like, attached to a reciprocatory operating device or rod 18. The rod 18 operates through stationary guides 19, and springs 20 tend to return the rod to its normal position. It is obvious that rotation of the shaft 9 will reciprocate the rod 18.

In operation, the reciprocatory movement of the rod 18 is imparted to the tables 6. By disconnecting either. main arm 22 from the rod 18, one table may be made to operate whilethe otheris at rest. By the peculiar arrangement of the rod 18 with respect to the tables, I have found that the power is transmitted to the tables in an even and balanced manner.
.Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
In a machine of the character described, a pair of approximately horizontal longitudinally reciprocatory tables disposed side by side and, laterally spaced; a reciprocatory operating device arranged near correspond.- ing ends of the tables in endto end relation thereto and in substantial axial alinement with the space between the inner sides of the tables; main connecting members detache ably secured to the inner end of the reciprocatory operating devicev and attached to the adjacent ends of the'tables at points spaced substantially equal distances from the longitudinal sides of the tables; and auxiliary connecting members securedto the main connecting members near their inner ends and to the adjacent ends of the tables at the inner longitudinal sides thereof.
