HOLDER FOR FOB-RIBBONS.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Doox T. DENNY, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Hartsville, in the county of Darlington, State of South Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for FobRibbons; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in ribbon holders, and more particularly to that class adapted for use in connection with watch fobs, charms, or the like.
An object of this invention is the provision of a ribbon holder such as described in which the ribbon will be securely held against any undesired displacement in such manner as to present a neat and attractive appearance.
A further object of this invention is to improve and simplify devices of this character, rendering them comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efficient in use and readily operated.
With the above and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line H of Fig. 3.
Referring to the accompanying drawing by similar characters of reference, the numeral 5 designates generally my improved ribbon holder which consists of a tubular body 6 closed at one end by a circular plate 7 and formed in one side thereof with a longitudinally extending slot 8 through which the ribbon 9 is adapted to be extended. The open end of the tubular body 6 is adapted to be closed by a cap 10 which is formed with a reduced extension 11 which enters the open end of the said body 6 and holds the cap against any undesired lateral movement. A sleeve 12 is secured concentrically to the reduced extension 11 of the cap 10 and projects through the tubular body 6 for engagement with a recess 13 formed in the inner side of the circular plate 7 The sleeve 12 is formed from a strip of thin material and is bent to surround a. spring rod 14 which is off-set at one end to extend through a slot 15 formed in the said sleeve 12 as clearly illustrated by the numeral 16. The off-set portion 16 of the spring rod 14 passes through an opening 17 formed in the side of the body 6 opposite the slot 8 and retains the sleeve 12 in its proper position within the tubular body 6.
The device is used as follows :The intermediate portion of the ribbon 9 is extended through the slot 8 and looped within the body 6 to receive the sleeve 12 which is in serted therethrough for engagement with the recess 13. The cap 10 is then pushed inwardly until the off-set portion 16 of the spring rod 14 engages the opening 17 which securely holds the sleeve 12 within the tubular body and the looped portion of the ribbon 9 against any undesired displacement.
From the foregoing disclosures taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be manifest that a ribbon holder of the nature described is provided for which will fulfill all of the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this invention what I claim as new and desireto protect by Letters Patent, is:
1. The combination in a ribbon holder, of a tubular body portion, a slot provided in one side thereof, a plate closing one end of said tubular body portion, said plate being provided with a recess, a cap engaging the open end of said tubular body portion, a sleeve extending from said cap and engaging the recess, and a spring rod carried by the sleeve and engaging the body portion for preventing the displacement of the cap.
2. The combination in a ribbon holder, of a tubular body portion, slot formed in one end thereof, a plate closing one end of the tubular body portion, a cap engaging the open end of said tubular body portion, a reduced extension formed upon said cap and engaging the interior of the tubular body portion and preventing the lateral displacement of the said cap, a recess formed in one side of the plate, a sleeve extending from the cap and engaging the recess, a spring rod supported by the sleeve, one end of said rod being offset and extended through a slot formed in the said sleeve, an opening provided in said tubular body portion to receive the spring rod and prevent the dis placement of the sleeve and cap from the body portion.
3. The combination in a ribbon holder of a tubular body portion having a slot formed in one side thereof and on opening provided in the opposite side thereof, a plate closing one end of said tubular body portion, said plate being formed with a recess, cap engaging the open end of the tubular body portion, a reduced extension formed upon said cap and extending into said tubular body portion, asleeve secured to said reduced extension and projecting through the tubular body portion and engaging the recess formed in the closing plate, a spring rod supported by said sleeve, one end of said spring rod being off-set and extended through the opening and supporting means attached to said tubular body portion.
