To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. lVrLLrAM E. Sues MAKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the countyof Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 'in- Sectional Tanks, of which the following is a specification. 1 1
The invention relates to a cylindric sheet metal tank for storingliquids, grains andot-her mobile materials; and the object of the improvement is to make the tank with a plurality of tubular. sections which can be readily connected endwise for use or disconnected for transportation.
To this ,end, the invention pertains more partic'ularly to the means for. joining; together the detachable tubular sections, so that the same may be readil assembled and secured together to make a strong, infiexibleand impervious joint.
.Theobject andipurpose of the invention, thus set forth in general terms, are attained ,by the preferred embodiment of the improvement illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, of a tank composed of two'sections joined together according to the present invention; Fig. 2, a fragmentary. section showing the joint; Fig 3, a fragmentary section showing a modified form of the joint ring. f

that the rim will more readily embed itself into the packing ring by permitting some of the packing to be squeezed between the rim and the ring; but this detail of construction is not an essential feature of the invention.
A series of angle cleats 12 is secured at intervals around the lower tank section adcent to the upperedge of the jointring; and
the series ofl-ongitudinal bolts'lis extend ed through the angle. flanges of the cleats and the bar by means of which the tank sections are drawn and clamped tightly together, after which the joint May be further strengthened by the use of a series of bolts '15 extending through the upper part of the joint ring and the lower end of the use of the eontinuous anglejbar 13 on the upper tank section for engaging the bolts l l'is notessentialybut the use of such a bar is preferred because it serves as a rib to strengthen the annular shape of'the tank seetion; and it is furthermore evident that an external annular flange, as 12, can be provided on the lower edge of the joint ring, in lieu of the series of cleats 12, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
