CHARLES F. SNYDER, OF CAMILLUS, NEW YORK.
RECTAL OR FILE SUPPORTER.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. SNYDER,
of Camillus, in the county of Onondaga, in
the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Rectal or Pile Supporters, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description. My invention consists in the novel arrangement and combination of the component parts of a rectal supporter for piles or prolapse of the rectum as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
The objects of my invention are, first to provide a simple, reliable, and inexpensive rectal supporter that may be worn at all times without discomfort to the wearer, second to afford facilities for the proper adjustment of all parts of the supporter, third to provide a rectal supporter that may be worn without discomfort, while standing, sitting, lying down, or bending in any direction, and still retain its proper position, said supporter to give instant relief, and, effect a final cure. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a front elevation embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation to better show the pad h. t. and springs g. g. Fig. 8 is a bottom view of the upper part 7b. of the pad h. t. with cap t. removed to show the adjustment of springs g. g. in the grooves m. m. Fig. 4 is bottom view of cap t. to be securely fastened to pad 7i. at n. n. by screws P. P. or otherwise, thus securing springs g. g. in their proper place.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
A. denotes a beltprovided with loops 0. C. at its front. At the back of said belt are secured shoulder straps B. B. which pass through the loops C. C. and connect at F. F. with elastic straps E; E. which in turn are securely fastened to wire springs g. g. at their loops Z. Z. The other end of springs g. g. are connected with adjustable pad h. t. The belt A. is composed of webbing or other suitable material and encircles the waist and is secured at D. by buckle or otherwise.
At the front of said belt are securely fastened loops C. C. for the purpose hereinafter explained. Secured to the back of belt A. are straps B. B. which after crossing Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 28, 1911.
Patented July 16, 1912. Serial No. 617,535.
at the back (as shown in Fig. 1) are brought over the shoulders and down the front of the body passing through loops C. C. and thence connecting with buckle ends of elastic straps E. E. The other ends of straps E. E. are securely fastened to springs g. the ends of which are formed into loops Z. Z. for this purpose.
The springs g. 9. being formed'to a suitable curve pass down along the sides of the abdomen, thence between the thighs and are secured to the pad 71-. t. at their ends. The pad h. t. composed of hard rubber or other suitable material is made in two parts. The under side of part it. is provided with several grooves or channels into any of which may be placed the offsets r. r. of springs 51. g. thus making pad h. t. adjustable to various sizes. The springs g. g. and their offsets 7. 1'. are securely held in the grooves m. m. by placing cap 6. over them and securing same at n. a. by screws P. P. to the pad h.
The loops C. C. are designed to hold straps B. B. close to the body when stoopi'ng or bending in any direction and this with the takeup of elastic straps E. IE. will overcome any slackness of the various parts of the supporter (that are likely to occur from the various positions of the wearer) and securely hold the pad it. t. in its proper position at all times.
To adjust the supporter the belt A. is first fastened around the waist. The straps B.
B. are then brought over the shoulders and passed through the loops C. C. The pad h. t. is then properly adjusted and connections made at F. F. with straps B. B. and E. E. The straps B. B. are then drawn up until the correct pressure is secured on pad h. f.
I claim In a device of the class described, a sup port, two bow springs secured to said sup port and having inwardly bent free ends, a pad member provided on the under side thereof with slots adapted to adjustably receive the said spring ends and a removable cap secured to said pad and positioned over said slots and spring ends.
WALTER LEE, HOWARD W. SNYDER.
