To all whom it may comm? Be it known that I, ALEX-ANDRE Gunrm'rrn, a subject of the Kin of England, resldmg at Lachute Mills, in t e Province of Quebec,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fire-Alarms; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the nvention, such as will enable others skilled-1n. the art to which it appertains to make and use the same,
The invention to be hereinafter described relates to fire alarms and more particularly to electric fire alarms.
In order to more clearly disclose the-com struction, operation and use of the invention, reference should be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of the present application.-
Throughout the several figures of the drawings like reference characters designate the same parts.

The main object of the invention is to provide a simply constructed, economical,
efficient, and accurate alarm which may be equally well applied to one, or to a number, of buildings or parts of buildings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 indicates a suitable support creasing in which is mounted a weight actuated clock'train 2. The weight 3 for actuating the train is removably mounted on the-outer end of a lever arm 4. The outer-end of the arm 4 is fulcrumed on the arbor of the'master gear of the clock train and carries the spring pressed actuating pawl 5 which cofiperates with the ratchet wheel 6 fixed to the master gear. Thus, when the arm 4 is drawn downward by the weight 3, the clock train will be operated, whereas, lifting of the arm will not cause 0 eration of theclock train. The chain or other'connecting means is rovided with a number of easily fusible lin s or sections distributed throughout its length. As soon as any one of these links or sections is fused by fire, the lever 7 will be released and will swing to the dotted line position of Fig. 2, thus freeing the weight 3 and causing operation of the clock train.
Splined to the arbor of the last gear of the clock train is a contact 13. T1118 contact is inclosed in a heavy or circular block of insulation 14 in such manner that only its tip is exposed beyond the surface of the block. As the arbor rotates, the contact meets the surface of the spring contact finger 15 projecting from the inner end of a inding post16 mounted in one wall of the casing just a short distance from the arbor carrying the contact 13. A second bindin post 17 1s connected to the frame or casing a jacent the end of thearbor on which contact 13 is mounted. Each of the binding posts receives one of the branch wires of an alarm circuit. This circuit is normally t when contact 13 engages contact 15. t such time the circuit 1s closed and. the alarm will be sounded. The number of times that the alarm 'is sounded is determined by the number of revolutions of the arbor carrying contact 13. This, of course, may be regulated as desired. It should be noted that a plurality of levers 7 may be used, one for each bullding, room,
