EDWARD R. BENNETT, OF ATI-IOL, MASSACHUSETTS.
MILK-BOTTLE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 17, 1912. Serial No. 678,408.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD R. BENNETT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atho-l, in the county of lVorcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk-Bottle Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip tion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to holders for milk bottles and has for its object to produce a device of this character adapted to be supported upon a door or window casing for either holding the bottles when full or empty.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a view showing the holder attached to a portion of a window or door frame, and supporting a bottle in its upright position. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the holder. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the holder, the bottle being supported in its empty condition.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a.back member, the same being formed preferably from wood, and having its upper end formed with an eye 2, and by which the back member may be supported upon a nail or the like on the door or window frame.
Secured to the back member 1, in any suitable manner is a pair of spaced bottle receiving loops 3, said loops being formed from stout wire, and are arranged in vertical alinement. A clamp 1 is provided, the same being formed from resilient wire bent upon itself and having its end portions 5 arranged at right angles and secured in the back member 1, and a short distance below the lowermost bottle receiving loop 3, said clamp having that portion above the angularly turned end portions standing in spaced relation to the back member 1 and gradually approaching the same in an upward direction, the bight portion of the clamp being turned away from the back member 1 in parallel relation to the bottle receiving loops 3.
The bottles when delivered are passed through the loops 3 in their upright position, whereupon the bottom of the bottle will rest upon the outwardly turned bight portion of the clamp 41. After the bottles have been emptied, they are placed in the holder in their inverted position, the mouth thereof passing over the clamp 4, thus effectually supporting the bottle. Thus it will be seen that the bottles when empty will drain, and entrance of dirt and dust thereint-o is prevented.
What is claimed is:
A bottle holder comprising a back member, vertically spaced bottle receiving loops secured to the back member, and a combined clamp and support consisting of a spring wire bent upon itself and having its end portions turned at right angles and engaged in the back member, said spring wire above the angularly turned end portions standing in spaced relation to the back and gradually approaching the latter in an upward direction, the bight portion of the spring wire being turned away from the back member in parallel relation to the bottle receiving loops.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
I EDWARD R. BENNETT.
Witnesses:
J AMES V. HOWARD, CHARLES E. SMITH.
