Be it known that I, JAMES MoOU'roHnoN COLEMAN, resident of 356 Olivier avenue, in the city of Westmount, in the Province of Quebec, in the Dominion of Canada, a

The objects of the invention are to devise a swing door, which may be readily closed into a dump opening and form a tight joint to prevent the loss of grain or granulated cargo, and generally to provide a cheap, convenient and durable formof door mechanism for dump cars.

said door being adapted to swing freely from said opening and in closing, to draw into place, bytmeans of said hinge connection, said flanges from the door entering the dump opening pocket. and said flanges from around the edge of the dump openingentering the door pocket.
3. In dump car'construction, a car body having a chute'therebeneath and a dump opening in the end wall of said chute, said end wall and bottom and sides of the chute having double plate formations formed by outwardly extending flanges around said dump opening, a door, having around the a double plate formation formed by flanges around said dump opening, a pair of doors having double plate formations formed by flanges extending inwardly from the inside face and coacting with the aforesaid double plate formation, hinges securing said doors to the upper portion of the end walls of the chutes and formed with brackets and loops connecting the brackets, a cross beam rigidly secured to and connecting said doors, an arm pivot-ally secured to said beam at one end, and a worm and gear mechanism connected to the other end of said arm suitably operated.
