william @H01 aen Jr@ mmm MAY 31370;
indre WILLIAM G.
HOLDEN, JR., OF COVINGTON,
KENTUCKY.
Letters Patent No. 102,680, dated llavy 3, 1870; mediated February 2, 1870.
The Schechue referred to in these Letters Patent nud making part of theveame 'o all -uv-zom 'it may concern:
Bc it known that I, WILLIAM G. HOLDEN, Jr., of
l Covington, Kenton county, Stute of -Kentucky, have invented certain new und useful Improvements in Refrigerators; and I hereby declare the followingl to be a sufficiently full, clear, and ,eract description thereof to enable one skilled in theart to which my iuvention appel-talus to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making part oi' this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in thc combination and arrangement ot' the. parts of a refrigerator, as will be more fully described hereinafter.
In theaccompanying drawings- Figure l is e. perspective View of a refrigerator ernbodying my invention, the view being partly in section, to exhibit the interior construction.
Figure 2 is a cross-section.
Figure 3 is a sectional plan through the watercooler.
The case A, inelosing thc refrigerator-cliamber, is composed of double sides, ends, bottom, and, top, or one box within another, the space A', inclosed hctween the boxes, being filled with turneris chips.7
In eonstructingtheboxes, (before putting together and inserting the lling.) the outer box is lined and the inner box coated-with glue and wat-er and layers of bagging-paper, O.
lVhen so constructed, put together, and lled in the space between the boxes, the case isvimpervious to moisture, and a goed non-conductor of heat.
The inner cover ais constructed with the necessary 'opening into the chamber, and also with apertures u',
for the insertion of the cans D, which project downward into the chamber, and are supported by lthe anges, d, formed on rthe cans, which rest upon the cover a'.
rBhe pendent cans are also constructed with handles d', by which the cans may be lifted out of the chan, ber, i'or change of ice, or otherwise.
The cons are filled with ice, or a mixture of ice and Water, and the whole numberI may be used together, Y
or any number less than the whole.
To give room in the chamber, the cans not. in use may bc entirely removed.
Eis a water-cooler, constructed of semicirculnr form, and provided with a flange, c, by which thecooier may be attached to the boxA inside. It is provided with :t pipe, i?, and cock G.
The scmicircnlar form is designed to economize space, and provide a lint surface for connection with the case A. V
I claim herein as new and of my invention-4 The combination and arrangement of the case A,
constructed as described, pendent portable cans D d d', and cooler E, provided with flange e und pipe F G, substantially as set forth. y
In testimony of which invention I hereunto set my hund. v.
