Description
G. MORAN. NURSING BOTTLE ATTACHMENT. APPLICATION FILED we. 15, 1911.
Patented A r. 16, 1912.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GENEVA 110mm, 0F THomAs'ron', MAINE.
NURSING-BOTTLE ATTACHMENT.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GENEvA MORAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Thomaston, in the county of York and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nursing Bott-le Attachments, of which the following is a specifioation.
This invention relates to improvements in nursing bottles, and has particular reference to a device to be used, in connection with the nipple.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a device for attachment to the knob of the bottle to prevent the collapsing of the nipple.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view'of the neck of the bottle showing my device ap lied. Fig. 2 is a side view of the neck 0 the bottle with the nipple removed. Fig. 3 is an end view of the mouth of the bottle.
Referring to the drawings, 10 represents the neck of the bottle, and 11 the usual lip therearound. My attachment comprises an elastic band 12 which is adapted to insert on the neck of the bottle just beneath the lip 11, and secured to the band at diametrically opposite points as represented at 13 and extending upwardly across the mouth of the bottle is an elastic strip 14 one end of said stri extending below the band 12 as at 15, and said extension adapted when the nipple is applied to the bottle, to extend a sli ht distance below the lower edge thereo When the nipple 16 is applied to the bot- Speciflcation of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 15, 1911.
Patented Apr. 16, 1912. Serial No. 844,215.
t-le, its ed e completely covers the band 12, said barn? being of suitable thickness to hold the nipple a slight distance outwardly from the bottle, and the ends of the strip 14 which provide a double thickness at the points 13 hold the nipple a little farther away from the bottle, so that the circulation of air may be had under the nipple and across the mouth of the bottle. Thus when the nipple becomes flattened in the act of nursing, the space rovided by the double thickness at 13 wil permit air to pass up into the nipple and restore the nipple to its distended position. The device 18 so constructed and arranged that it is not necessary to remove the nipple from the mouth to its normal condition, it being only necessary to stop the suction to restore the nipple to normal condition.
What is claimed is:
An attachment for nursing bottles comprising an elastic band for encircling the mouth of the bottle below the lip thereof, and an elastic strip extending across the mouth of the bottle and secured at diametrically opposite points to said band, one end of said strip extending below said band, and ada ted to extend below the nipple when app ied, whereby air may enter between the neck of the bottle and the nipple.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
GENEVA MORAN.
Witnesses:
