Description

DISTRIBUTER.
APPLIOATION FILED FEB. 24, 1911.
1 ,O22,577, Patented Apr. 9, 1912 COLUMBIA PLANOORAPH 50., WASHINGTON D c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE A. BERRY, OF ELY, NEVADA.
DISTRIBUTER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. BERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ely, in the county of "White Pine and State of Nevada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Distributors, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates particularly to a device by means of which water, carrying in suspension ores such as gold, silver, and copper, and the usual impurities forming the gangue of said ores and also the wash or feed water usually pumped from settling tanks with a certain amount of debris, may be fed upon a Wilfiey or other concentrating table or vanner, and the flow regulated so as to obtain the best results in the operation of such table or vanner.
The object of my invention is to provide a device of this character which will be simple in construction and unlikely to clog with refuse, and which may be readily and quickly regulated.
ith this in mind my invention resides in the construction and arrangement to be hereinafter described with respect to the accompanying drawing, in which,
Figure 1 is an elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a transverse section therethrough, on line 22 of Fig. l, and on an enlarged scale, and Fig. 3 is a similar View on the line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a sectional detail of the valve operating means.
Referring now to these figures, the pipe 10, which is suitably secured to the rear of the concentrating table, in place of the usual wooden box, has a longitudinal series of openings 11 in its lower portion and receives the ore-bearing liquid from a hopper 12 suitably attached thereto.
Secured to one side of the pipe 10, is a longitudinal series of brackets 13, through which is journaled a longitudinal shaft or rod 14 carrying a longitudinal series of short arms 15 extending laterally therefrom beneath the pipe 10, each of said arms 15 being coincident with one of the pipe openings l1, and being provided with an upwardly curved tapering head 16, adapted to extend within, and to partially or wholly close its respective opening when shaft 14 is rocked to the position shown in Fig. 3. At a suitable point therealong, the rod 14 Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 24, 1911.
Patented Apr. 9, 1912.
Serial No. 610,618.
is provided with an upwardly extending arm 17, having its upper end flattened and pivotally connected by a pin 20 to a bifurcated member 18 which is swiveled to an adjusting screw 19. The adjusting screw 19 extends through an internally threaded tube 21, as shown particularly in Fig. 2, this tube being securely fastened to the pipe 10, by means of a bracket 22. The adjust ing screw 19 is provided at its opposite end with a hand wheel 23, by means of which it may be rotated and, by means of tube 21, caused to move longitudinally in order to swing arm 17 either outwardly or inwardly, and cause rocking movement of the shaft or rod 14 in accordance therewith.
In operation, the orebear ing liquid or the wash or feed water is introduced into the hopper 12 and passes therefrom, into pipe 10, from which it escapes on to the concentrating table or vanner in the form of a regulated flow through the openings 11. The adjusting screw 19 is rotated, in order to rock the shaft or rod 14, as before described, and move the tapered head 16 of each of the arms 15, into proper relation to its respective opening 11, to obtain the desired flow. From this it will be seen that only a slight rotation .of screw 19 is thereafter necessary in order to either enlarge the flow or out 01f the same entirely as may be desired.
I claim:
In a distributer of the character described, the combination of a distributing pipe having a plurality of distributing apertures, a rod journaled along said pipe, a plurality of arms carried by said rod, coincident with, and movable within and from said pipe apertures, and constituting plugs to regulate the flow therefrom, an adjusting hand screw, a rocker arm extending from the rod, a loose connection between the screw and the rocker arm, and an internally threaded tube secured on said distributing pipe through which said screw is threaded.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE A. BERRY.
Witnesses A. B. COLWELL, W. B. COLWELL.
