CURTAIN-POLE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HUGO PURAT, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain- Poles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to curtain poles, and the primary object of my invention is to obviate the necessity of using rings and pins for connecting the upper ends of ourtains to a pole.

Another object of this invention is to provide a sectional pole having the sections thereof constructed to frictionally hold the upper ends of the curtains.

A further object of this invention is to provide 'a curtain pole that is simple in construction, durable, inexpensive to manufacture, and neat in appearance.

With the above and other objects in View,

the invention resides in a novel construction,

clamping band that can be used in connection with the pole.

A pole in accordance with this invention comprises two semi-cylindrical sections, 1 and 2, said sections having ends thereof hinged together, as at 3. The, flat face of the section 1 is provided with longitudinal ribs 4, extending from one end of said section to the opposite end. These ribs are arranged in parallelism and are adapted to extend into longitudinal grooves 5 provided therefor in the flat face of the section 2. The ribs 4 are employed for frictionally holding the upper ends of curtains 6 between the sections of the pole.

The toothed end of the catch is adapted to extend under a keeper 11, carried by the end of the section 1, said section having the end thereof recessed, as at 12 to provide clearance for themovement of the toothed end of the catch 7, when said catch is to be released from the keeper 11.

The ends of the sections 1 and 2, are provided with the recesses 12*, and secured to said sections adjacent to said recesses are resilient clips 13, that can be easily sprung into said recesses.

Detachably mounted upon the ends of the sections 1 and2 are cup shaped caps 14 having suitable ornamentations 15. The sections 1 and Qcan be made of light and durable wood and the remaining parts of the pole of metal. The entire structure can be finished to harmonize with the window, door or alcove frame in connect-ion with which the curtain pole is used.
