The object of this invention is to provide a light, but substantial, all-metal, car wall and to soidesign the same. tha-t it may be manufactured at a less cost than Walls of the same capacity heretofore built.

portions fixed to the side plate and to the sheathing plates and posts in such manner as to permit of the omission of some of the sheathing plates and posts, for forming'the door opening without materially affecting the weight sustaining capacity of the wall, said sheathin plates serving as splice plates for' connecting said remforcing member to said posts.
It further providesthat the floor sheets be connected with the side connecting member and with adjacent portions of the sheathing plates in such manner as to au posite end ,ment the weight sustaining capacity of said wall members.
Itfurther provides that the floor plates, at the door openings, be so formed and connected to the side connectin member and to the intermediate portion oy the continuous reinforcing member, above referred to, as to reinforce said members, and at the same time provide 'an ,appropriate door sill covering said members.
Referring to the drawings in which is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 1 indicates the center sills, 2 the cross bearers and 2 the holsters of the underframe structure.

The sheathing plate or plates `as* 'are securely riveted directly to the 'outer faces of the flangesa of the posts 7, having their lower longitudinal edges oset at the upper edge of the plate 3 and'lapping theouter face of said plate and being riveted thereto p by through rivets some of which extend through the upstanding flange of the angle 5, others through said flange andthrough `the posts 7 and others through the flange 6 of the floor plate. The upper longitudinal edge of the sheathing plate 14 ,is ixed to the inner vertical surface of the side plate 15.
