BENJAMIN F. HUNTER, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
DOILY-CABINET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 22, 1907, Serial No. 363,867. Renewed September 6, 1910. Serial No. 580,773.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. HUNTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Doily-Cabinet,of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a cabinet for the reception of doilies in which the doilies will be kept clean and in flat or ironed condition and of ready access.
My invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section of a cabinet embodying my invention; Fig. 2, a partial view of the same; Fig. 3, a section of the cabinet on a reduced scale and showing in opened position; and Fig. et, an enlarged section through the end of one of the cabinet leaves.
A box A is provided with a hinged back B to which is hinged the lid C of the box. Guide bars D are pivoted to the bottom of box A so as to be free to swing backwardly and are connected by a pivoted link E with eyes F on the back of the box. The guide bars D are provided with longitudinal slots d in which are mounted pins or shafts g. To each of the pins g is secured a cabinet leaf G which may be of heavy card board, wood or other stiff material. The leaves Gr are connected with their pins g by means of loops or eyes g which may be of canvas other adapted to or other flexible material. By this construction it will be seen that the leaves 'G- are free to closely contact with each other or to assume positions relatively to each hold articles between them in a flat or ironed condition, and that by swinging back the back of the box and raising the leaves, ready access is given for the insertion or removal of doilies.
I claim as my inventionl. In a doily cabinet, the combination, with a box having a hinged back, of slotted guides pivoted at their lower ends to the bottom of the box and having pivoted link connection at their upper ends with the back of the box, and leavesprovided with pins, said pins engaging with the slots in the guides, substantially as specified.
2. A device of the kind described comprising a casing having a wall hinged to its bottom and its top hinged to said wall, longitudinal slotted members arranged at opposite. sides of the casing, inwardly of said hinged wall, a plurality of leaves superposed over the bottom of the casing, transversely extending pins flexibly connected to said leaves, and projecting at opposite ends through said slotted members, and means for causing said slotted members to move simultaneously with said hinged wall.
