To all 'whom t may concern Be it known that I, JAMEsMAoDoNALD, `a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Holder for Neckties, Buttons, Pins, and Like Articles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The invention relates to wardrobe fixtures and its object is to provide a new and improved holder for attachmentto a wall or other support, and arranged to hold neckties, collar, cuff and other buttons, stick pins, and like articles in a convenient manner and protected against dust. For the purpose mentioned use is made of two jointed flaps adapted to fold one onto the other and to be fastened together, and a hook attached to the flaps at their joint and projecting between the flaps, for supporting the neckties. In order to carry collar buttons, cuff buttons and other buttons, one of the flaps is provided at its inner face with a pocket, and on the inner face of the other Hap is arranged a pin cushion for supporting stick pins and the like.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure l is a perspective view of the holder in open position and with the parts broken out; Fig, 2 is a like view of the same in closed position; Fig. 3 is alike view of the closed holder doubled up for storing purposes; Fig. L is an enlarged sectional perspective 'view of part of' the holder; and Fig. 5 is a. perspective view partly in section of a modified form of hook.

The flaps or strips A and B of a suitable fabric material are jointed together along their adjacent side edges as at C, to permit of folding the flaps one ont-o the other, as shown in Fig. 2, or to open up the flaps as indicated in Fig. 1. The flaps A and B .are preferably stiffened in their upper half portions by stifening materials E, and wires F extending along the upper and outer side edges, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1. The inner faces of the flaps A and B are provided at the top and their Youter side edges with fastening devices for vfastening the flaps together when folded one upon the other, the said fastening devices being preferably in the form of spring buttonsG and sockets G', as indicated in Fig. 1. A hook H extends transversely from the upper end of the holder at the joint C thereof, for supporting neckties, as indicated in Fig. l, the said hook H having its shank terminating in 'an upwardly-extending flange H', from which extends downwardly a tonguevH2 inserted in the material of the flaps A and B at the joint thereof, so as to securely hold the hook H in place, the said flange H and tongue H2 being provided with registering apertures for the passage of a nail, screw or like device employed for securing the holder to a wall or other support. A flap I of fabric material and attached to the back of the flaps A and B at the joint thereof is passed over onto the front of the flange H to cover the same, so that the hook H is only visible when the holder is in open position, as indicated in Fig. 1. On the inner yface of the flap A is attached a pin cushion J for supporting stick pins and the like, and on the inner face of the other flap B is held a pocket K for containing cuff buttons, collar buttons vand like articles.

It is understood that the holder is attached to a wall or other support, and the flaps A andV B can be conveniently opened or closed t0 obtain access to the articles supported by the holder or to keep the articles protected against dust when the device is not in use and the flaps A and B are fas- .tened together, as indicated in Fig. 2.

It is understood that the hook H is completely covered by the iaps A and B when the latter are closed, but when the flaps are open the hook extends transversely to permit of conveniently hanging neckties thereon or of removing the same from the hook.

If desired, an extension hook L may be used instead of the rigid hook H above described, this extension hook L having a hook member L telescoping in a member L2 provided wit-h a downwardly-extending spindle L3 mounted to turn in suitable bearing L4 attached to a plate L5 secured `in the joint of the iaps A and B the same as the tongue H2. The plate L5 is provided with apertures L6 for the passage of a nail, screw or the like, to secure the holder to a wall or other support.

The holder shown and described is very simple and durable in construction and can be readily attached to a wall or other support, arranged for supporting a large number of neckties, buttons, pins and similar articles, in such a manner that the articles are protected against dust when the holderis not in use.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

A holder of the character specified, comprising a plurality of flaps, connected at one side edge and having at the other side edge means for detachably connecting the sald edges together, a hook comprising a straight shank having at one end a bill and at the other a ange extending upwardly and thence downwardly to form a tongue for 15 insertion in the joint of the flaps, the hook being substantially perpendicular to the tongue, and extending transversely of the flaps when in place.
