WILLIAM SANDERS, OF JACKSON, TENNESSEE.
CHURN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 19, 1911.
Application filed May 3, 1911. Serial No. 624,794.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, IVILLIAM SANDERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jackson, in the county of Madison and State ot Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements .in Churns; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make. and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and uset'ul improvements in vibrator-y churns and the object in view is to generally improve upon and render more etlicient this type of churns.
The invention comprises various details oi. construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then speciically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective View of my improved churn, and F ig. 2 is a sectional view longitudinally and vertically through the churn.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a bail-shaped bar, preferably of hollow material, which is fastened to the base B in any suitable manner, the upright portions of said member A being provided with buffers C and adapted to take up the vibration incident to the swinging churn coming in contact therewith.
The churn body, designated by letter D,
is preferably of cylindrical shape and made preferably of tin or other suitable metal. A lid E is provided with a flange which lits over one end of the churn and is held tightly by means ol? the clamping members F in which apertures are formed for the reception of the rods IIwhich have heads at corresponding ends and the opposite ends threaded for the reception of the winged nuts I, thereby affording secure means for holding the lid tight against the body portion of the churn. In order to make the lid secure to prevent any liquid leaking, suite able gaskets are preferably interposed between the lid and body portion of the churn.
A handle, designated by letter K, is fastened to the body portion of the churn and each end of the bar out of which the handle is formed is turned into a hook K. The endless wire or cable N, which passes over the horizontally disposed portion of the baileshaped member and catches underneath said hooks, thus forming a secure means for the suspension of the churn and allowing the latter to swing freely.
lVhat I claim to be new is A swinging churn comprising a body por tion, a handle fixed thereto and having its ends formed into inverted hooks, a supporting bar, cables mounted thereon and engagmg said hooks and forming means for allowing the churn to swing.
In testimony whereof I hereunto allx my signature 1n the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM SANDERS. lVitnesses:
