ADOLPH COHEN, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DOLL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. '7, 1911.
Application filed September 7, 1.911. Serial No. 648,025.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ADOLPH COHEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dolls, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to an improvement in dolls, Teddy bears, etc., whereby children can carry these toys out of doors in cold weather without getting their hands cold.
In the drawings, the improvement is shown applied to an ordinary doll, Figure 1 being a front elevation of an improved doll within my invention, Fig. 2 being a cross section on line 2 2 in Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.
I will now describe the devices of the drawings: 1 is the body of the doll consisting of stuffing material 2 contained in a covering 3 of fabric made in the shape of the body of the doll.
4 is an opening extending transversely through the body 1 from side to side large enough for the child to enter its hands into it like a muif. The inside of this opening 4 is lined with a tube of fabric 5 which at its respective mouths 5a is sewed to the fabric 3 that covers the body.
The head 6 of the doll may be made of composition or other desired material with a flanged neck 7 received into an opening through the fabric at the top of the body l, which opening is then sewed together tightly around the neck. The arms and legs are secured in any well known manner to the appropriate corners of the body.
8 is an overcoat which, inthe particular form shown, has a hood 9 for a head-covering for the doll. This overcoat has vertical side slits 10 corresponding to the mouths 5a of the hand-opening in or through the body 1. The overcoat material at these slits 10 may be sewed to the body material at the mouths 5a. Finally, co-acting hooks and eyes 11, or other fastener parts, may be provided at the slits 10 to secure together the sides of each slit in case the hand opening is not being used.
12 is a toy muff shown suspended from the neck of the doll and, of course, may or may ot be used.
W at I claim is:
1. An improved doll-device provided with hand openings in its body to receive therein the hands of the child in carrying the devlce.
2. An improved doll-device having a soft body with hand openings therein to receive the hands of the child like a muft'.
8. An improved dolldevice having a soft body provided with a hand-receiving opening, an over-garment on the doll having slits therein corresponding to the mouths of the aforesaid opening, said garment at said slits being secured to the mouths of said opening.
4. An improved doll-device having a soft body provided with a hand-receiving opening, an over-garment on the doll having slits therein corresponding to the mouths of the aforesaid opening, said garment at said slits being secured to the mouths of said opening, and complementary fastener parts which releasably secure together the sides of said slits.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ADOLPH COI-IEN.
