Description

'Cu est. v l
N-EPETINS mofa-WHEN, WASHINGTON. D. C.
' 'TIMOTHY is'AKiJn.,-orsr. JOHNS, MICHIGAN.
`Letters Patent No. 100,711, dated Mtl/rch 15, 1870.
IIPROVEMENT 1N CHURNS,
The Schedule referred` to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To whom it may conce/rn t Be it 'known that' I, TiMoTnY BAKER, of St.
Johns, in the county of Clinton, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in t Ohurn-Das'hersg and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereofreference being` had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in which I give an elevation of my invention.
` The nature of my inventionV relates to an improve,- ment in churn-flashers, and consists in. constructing `the same of any suitable sheetmetal, with a spiral flange surrounding and secured to a hollow standard,
whose lower extremity terminates in a cone, with a solid base, the ange being in the form usually known as theArchimedean screw, and provided with a series of perforations.
In the accompanying drawings- A represents a hollow standard, into the top of which a suitable handle may be inserted.
This standard terminates at its lower extremity in a hollow cone, `B, with a closed or solid bottom.
Around this standard, and secured thereto, is a spiral flange, C, Whose circumference should it the intel'ioro the churn-barrel, and which is provided with a series of perforations, a.
This Ydasher should be operated by a reciprocating motion, its peculiar form agitating violently the cream,
and separating the fatty mat-ter thereof from the globules in which it is contained with great ease;
`lVhen the'butter comes, it may be gathered by giving the dasher a rotary motion in the direction of the screw. y v
What I claimas my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The churn-(flasher above described, consisting of a hollow-standard', A, provided withV a. conical. base, B, and a flange, C, attached to said base, and spirally arranged about hthe standard A, and provided with openings a, when constructed as described, and arranged to operate as and for the purpose set forth.
