To all 'inkom it may concern;
Be it knownthat we, GEORGE W. VVIsE and HENRY A. VISE, citizens of the United metallic frames for soda-fountain counters,
and other analogous structures.
The primary objectof the invention is to entirely eliminate wood as a material in `such structures, and to provide a generally improved metallic frame-work for securing, supporting andreinforcing the marble walls whereby. a generally improved structure of great strength and durability [is provided, the present embodiment of the invention being particularly designed and adapted 'for use in connection with asocia-fountain of the general character described and claimed in our application tiled November 2 9, 1909, Serial No.-530,523, of which 'this application is av divisional part. i,
Wfhile our invention 'is admirably adapted for use in the construction of soda fountain counters, it will of course be'obvious that it may be readily adapted or embodied-for use in connection with other, or similar structures where marble, glass, and similar m-aterial, are extensively used as a component part.
With the above mentioned and other ends in view, 'the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in one of its embodiments in the accompanying drawings, and-particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

The main body portion of the improved soda-fountain is vsupported and reinforced by means of a metallic frame (see Fig. 3) comprising upper and lower angle- bar frames 1 and 2, respectively, preferably of rectangular form, andv angle-bar corner posts 3, secured and reinforced within the corners of said angle-bar frames by means of metallic reinforcing plates or members 4, said plates or members 4, being securely riveted and soldered therein as indicated in Fig. 4, of the drawings.
The angle- bar frames 1, and 2, are provided, intermediate their ends, with metallic cross partition plates or *headsv 5, said partition plates being preferably of cast brass and provided with integral iange portions 5, secured wit-hin the inner vsides of the angle-bars of the frames 1, and 2. The upper frame 1, is 'provided' near its rear vwith a second angle-'bar strip 6, formi-ng an the upper portions of the partition plates 5.
The frame of the main body portion of the vfountain is adapted to be supported upon adjustable legs '8, secured to the lower frame 2. The adjustable legs each comprise a base portion 9, carrying a rotary internally threaded standard or sleeve 8, said sleeve carrying a Ithreaded shank 10, provided with atop or bearing plate 11. The
`bearing plates `11, of the adjustable legs at the corners of the main frame are provided with outwardly extending flanges or projections lli, adapted to engageandsupport the corners of the marble side and end walls 12, and 13, respectively, when the latter are se- 'cured'about the sides of the metallic frame. As a further means of supporting said marble side and end walls the lower frame 2, is provided with channel shaped metallic cross bars 14, provided with ledges or projections 14a, extending beyond the front and rear sides of the lower frame and adapted to .latter are secured on the frontv andrea-r sides of the improved/frame. 'llhiemarble base or bottom wall 15, is adapted to have" its marginal edges rest within and be supported upon the angle-bars comprised in the lower frame 2, its intermediate portions resting upon and supported by the metallic cross bars 14. j The container-counter frame comprises a v lurality `of longitudinal extending angleiiars 16, secured to peripherally flanged intermediate and end supporting frames 17, and 'i 17a, respectively.
extend laterally on either sides thereof, and the peripheral flanges 18a, on the end frames 17, extend on the outsides only, said peripheral flanges 18, corresponding in width to the thickness of the marble end walls 19, ofthe container-counter so as to support and extend flush with the marginal `edges of the end walls 19, as shown most clearly in Fig. 1, of the'drawings.. The depending angle portion of the container-counter frame is adapted to rest within the longitudinal opening 7, of the main frame, the lower 'front angle-bar 16a, resting upon the correspondingly shaped angle -bar l, of the upper frame 1, when the container-counter is mounted upon the main frame.
The container-counter frame is provided at its front vwith vertical bars 20, said vertical bars having their ends extended to rest in front of marble 12, and against the adjacent counter-slab (not shown) so as to provide an intermediate circulating passage or recess between the front wall 12, and the adjacent wall of the counter-slab. p The container-counter frame is provided at its stop with the usual counter-slab 21, and at its rear with an inclined slab 22, said slab 22, being .adapted to support, the syrup container jars 23, in an inclined position as shown. The lower peripheral flanges 18", of the supporting frames and the flange portion of the lower longitudinally. extending angle-bars 16, are` adapted to support the marginal edges of inclined perforated racks (not shown) having openings to re-x ceive and support the lower ends of the syru-p containers. Strips of heat insulating paper may interposed betweenV the marble wal-ls and the adjacent frame work to which they are attached as shown and described in our parent application hereinbefore referred to, for the purpose of preventing dampness getting in between the metallic frame work and the walls, as well as preventing the latter from becoming extremely cooled from the inside outwardly `thus preventingsweating or the precipitation of moisture on the marble walls.
The storage cabinets 24, are divided from the intermediate cooling chamber or box 25, by means of the partition plates or heads 5, said partition plates .being non-insulated and provided withbrine inlet openings 26, adapted to carry the salt water brine arising from the freezing mixture in the storage cabinets into the bottom portion of the cool ing chamber o-r box 25, when the improved frame is used in connection with a sodafountain using our brine or iceless system of refrigeration as described and claimed in our said parent application. lVhen so used the metallic partition plates or heads 5 are preferably provided with inclined troughs 27 and 28 on either side of the cooling chamber, the inclined trough 27, being adapted to deliver the salt water brine at the adjacent rear corner of the cool.- ing chamber, and the short trough 28, at the other side being inclined forwardly and adapted to deliver the salt brine at the adjacent corner of the cooling box and kdiagonally opposite the rear corner which receives the brine from the first mentioned trough.
` From the foregoing description, taken 1n connection with the accompanying drawings, the operation and advantages of our invention will be readily understood.
. Having thus described an embodiment of our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by 4Letters Patent is,-
1. A metallic frame for 'soda-fountains, comprising a main frame consisting of upper and lower rectangular frames provided with corner posts, said upper frame being provided with a container-counter receiving opening, and a metallic containercounter frame seated rin-said opening and resting on .said upper rectangular frame.
2. A metallic frame for soda-fountains, comprising-a metallic main frame provided at its topwith a second or intermediate bar extending parallel with the upper rear bar affording a longitudinally extending opening, and a metallic container-counter frame extending across said opening and resting on said bars at the sides of said opening.
3. A metallic frame for soda-fountains, comprising upper and lower angle bar frames, said upper frame being provided at its rear with a second longitudinal bar forming a. longitudinal opening at the top and rear, corner post bars secured at the corners of said trames, supporting bars secured to the intermediate portions of Said frames and Said second longitudinal bar, a, polygonal shaped (contamer-counter trame supported above said longitudinal opening' and resting on said Second longitudinal bar, and vertical bars extending from and in front. of said container-coimter frame.
4. Tn a metallic Jframe for soda-fountains, a main frame comprising upper and lower rectangular frames, said upper frame being provided near its rear with a second or interniediate bar, and said lower frame being provided with inner and outer marble Sup- "f porting elements.
