ANTON P. MAZINSKI, OF JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY.
NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
roeaooe.
To all whom it may 007t0677't.
Be it known that I, ANTON P. Mnzmskr, a subject of the Russian Emperor, residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to non-refillable bottles of the kind shown in my application filed June 20, 1913, and bearing Serial No. 774,743.
In the accompanying drawing, in which similar reference characters denote corresponding parts Figure 1 is a vertical section of the neck portion of my new bottle; Fig. 2 an elevation of a detail of my new device; Fig. 3 a cross section on line 33 of Fig. 1 and Fig. i a vertical section of another detail part of my device.
a denotes a bottle having a neck a. After the bottle is filled with the liquid it is to contain, my new device is inserted to render the same non-refillable. This device consists of a cylindrical glass casing Z) which is closed at its top Z) and open at its bottom 6 The lower end of said casing is provided with a circular flange b the outer circumference of which is adapted to snugly fit in the lower portion of the neck a. The outer diameter of the casing Z) is somewhat smaller than the inner diameter of the neck and at 52* is provided in its circumference with perforations or passages Z). Snugly fitting in the lower portion of the casing 79' is a tubular glass body 0, which is open at both ends and which at its upper end is controlled by a suitable valve 9 hereinafter more fully described. The tubular body 0 is thickened at its lower end and has oppositely arranged notches 0. Spring actuated plugs cl freely mounted in said notches are adapted to engage notches 0 provided in the inner surface of the neck a. The plugs are adapted to project through perforations provided in the lower end of the casing b opposite the notches 0 and 0. By means of these plugs (Z and notches e, 0' and Z) the casing Z) and body 0 become automatically locked in the neck a when the casing Z) is slipped into the neck. To insure a perfectly tight closure between the casing Z) and neck a a packing ring or sleeve f of Specification of Letters Patent.

cork or other suitable material may be fitted around the casing below the flange 6 This packing ring or sleeve is perforated at f to allow of the passage of the plugs.
The heretofore referred to valve 9 may be either a gravity valve or a spring actuated valve as shown. It consists of a non-buoyant block it of porcelain or glass, which is tiltably secured to the tubular body 0, as, for instance by means of a hinge ]oint 2'. If actuated by the spring the latter may be arranged on top of the block it between the block and a projection 0 of the latter, or at any suitable place and in any other suitable manner. lVhen a spring is used the latter must be weak so that when the bottle is tilted onto its side or upside down the heavy block assisted by the pres sure of the liquid Will overcome the spring pressure. The spring is merely an auxiliary means to insure the prompt closure of the block, when the bottle is tilted back into its upright position.
The device as described thus far would not completely prevent the filling of the bottle, since, when pressure is applied from the outside the heavy block it, owing to its inertia may not return into closed position as rapidly as necessary to prevent the passage of some liquid into the bottle. To avoid this I provide an auxiliary valvte mechanism, which I arrange in the upper portion of the casing b. This auxiliary mechanism comprises a tubular glass body 70 open at both ends and having a threaded flange k at its bottom, which is adapted to be screwed into the threaded portion 6 of the casing. Above that flange the body 7r has peripheral openings 73 and 011 top it is closed by a centrally perforated lid 70, which may be removably secured to the body 70 either by screw threads, as shown, or in any other suitable manner. Loosely fitted in said tube 72 is a disk or block Z of light material, as cork or the like, which by the exertion of slight pressure from the outside, as by blowin will be rapidly thrown onto its seat 70 in the tube 7c closing the latter and preventing the passage of any liquid. The mouth of the neck maybe closed by a cork m.
Since various modifications may be made in the construction of my device without deconnected to the said tube and the other comprising a peripherally perforated tube forming an annular passage between itself 15 and said casing and a buoyant body in said tube.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
