To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OWEN MATHIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Granite, in the county of Greer and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Pins, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to clothes pins, and the primary object of the same is the provision of a reversible pin which may be readily and quickly applied to the clothes line.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a pin of this character constructed from a single length of resilient material, preferably wire, formed to provide clamping elements, and guide members so arranged as to facilitate the application of the pin to a clothes line.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a pin of this character which is simple in construction, cheaply manufactured, and efficient for the purpose intended,

In the drawing forming a portion of this specification, and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views :-Figure 1 is a perspective view she-wing the device in its applied position. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the device constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic edge view of the same.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, the device comprises a single strand of resilient material, preferably wire, which is bent in its main length to provide companion clamping coils 2 and 3, each of which comprises a plurality of convolutions l and 5. A portion of the wire extends from the convolutions 4: at one side of the coils to provide a guide 6, while another portion of the wire ext-ends from the convolutions 5 at the other side of the coils to provide a guide 7. The outer ends of the guides 6 and 7 are formed with oppositely extending offset eyes 8 which are arranged at right angles to the coils 2 and 3. The inner portions or face surfaces of the eyes 8 are arranged in a direct line with the space between the coils 2 and 3 and are adapted to guide the clothes line between the convolutions of the coils on the application of the device to the line.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it is manifest that I have provided a pin of the character described, either end of which may be used to clamp the clothes upon the line, and by reason of which fact the pin may be readily and quickly applied to the line irrespective of the manner in which the same is grasped by the user of the device in taking the same from a receptacle or the like in which the pins are kept.

While I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, it is to be understood that I am not to be limited to the precise structure herein shown and described, since various changes may be made within the scope of the claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is 1. A; reversible clothes pin constructed from a single strand of resilient wire bent in its main length to provide companion clamping coils, each of said coils comprising a plurality of convolute portions, the wire extending from said convolute portions at one side of the coils to form guides, and said wire extended from the convolute portions at the other side of said coils to form guides extending in opposite directions from the first mentioned guides.

A- reversible clothes pin constructed from a single length of resilient wire bent in its main length to provide clamping coils. each of said coils comprising a plurality of convolute portions, the wire extending from said convolute portions at one side of the coils to form a guide, said wire extending from the convolute portions at the other side of said coils in an opposite direction to form a second guide, and the outer ends of said guides being formed with oppositely extending offset eves disposed at right angles to the said coils and having their inner surfaces arranged in a direct line with the space between said coils, substantially as and for the purpose described.
